If those are KT88s it should be. Even 6550s can get close.

It looks like it has a similar tube compliment to my YBA200

I looked at the schematic for it, and they originally came with 6L6's, hence the doubt. In any case, simply swapping tube type will not give you more watts. Everything else (voltage, bias, output transformer, etc.) has to be adjusted/upped as well.

Maybe it's peak wattage. Or, maybe it's fantastical 1960's marketing.

Probably peaks at 200 under distortion. Either way a 100 watter with good iron will be substantially loud (*cough* Ampeg V-4 *cough*).

V4's are loud but they sound like 100 watters to me. It's hard to impress me in volume though. Even the Model T doesn't impress me and that's "150 watts" and we dime it all the time. The only hundred water that's impressed me in volume is the Sound City Mark 3 100. And my SVT (but that's a given). My recently acquired 2000s is loud but I think it's quieter than my Model T by a hair. My Sound City 100 is louder than my Model T. Wattage is nuts. Amps are weird.

Well I'm of the opinion that the Berenstain Bears thing happened to the Ampeg V-4. Because 10 years ago V-4s were the loudest and cleanest amps you could possibly get. Nowadays V-4s seem to be distortion machines and have no clean headroom at all. But for bass a V-4(B) (not the reissue) and a big 'ol 8x10 is plenty. I had an SVT-VR, weakest 300 watt tube amp I ever played. My 200 watt 400RB and Mother are easily louder. Model T wasn't that loud when I had one. Don't forget that the Model T's power section wont see overdrive conditions because it is ultra-linear. A non ultra-linear power section of the same wattage will get louder because it can overdrive while the Model T cannot.

Yeah, I've had 3 v4's And they way I run them they are always dirty. Loud, but dirty. But not ridiculously loud. My model T has no clean headroom unless I'm running clean single coils. But it's usually always dirty because I run the master dimed. I do love V4's, but I think just amps in general disappoint me because I've so many "loud" amps that are loud but not blistering loud. Except my Sound City. That thing is weird. Also, I heard an old GT120 matamp once that was ear blowing loud. And a handful of early plexi's. I want both a gt120 and an early plexi. I would trade my 2000s for either. My yba-1a is LOUD for a 90w. It's as loud as my model T it seems. It's just all gain though. I think perception makes a bit difference. That's why I like low wattage speakers with high db's. Break up and pushing them make any amp seem much much louder. My 2x12 seems louder than many 412's for that reason. I know Kurt from converge feels the same way and likes playing 212's for that reason. They feel louder even if they are the same volume.

I'm drunk and talking nonsense too though. So my opinion might be flawed.
Hiiiiii

I think we're seeing this from the same angle. Some amps love distortion, some amps don't. My Hellhawk is LOUD, louder than my V-4. Yee, my 2x12 is loaded with V30s and my 4x12 with G12M 25w Greenbacks and G12T-75s. Amps sound louder through my 2x12 because the V30s are more sensitive but I get pretty much the equal amount of cone breakup with either cab coz they're both about 100-120 watts max.

LOL! Day drankin'

I'm about to take a bowl to the dome then take a few dabs.

I want a Science so badly. I might be getting a Matamp soon though. Especially if they can do the one I want at a decent price range! We'll see. I'll keep you guys updated. Not like I need another amp. I might need to sell my 2000s if I end up getting it ><

70s or 90s Matamp is bucketlist amp for me. I would have bought a new one a few years back instead of a shitty Rockerverb if I knew that Matamp was actually still around. We should do amp stuff soon, once you play my Hellhawk and Mother you wont wanna play anything else.
