How are you liking the field kit? It looks super fun but in the demos anything hit with the solenoid sounds very similar.
Are you able to get wildly different sounds depending on what you are hitting and how it is miced?
I love the Field Kit and the solenoid is probably one of my favourite parts. You can definitely get different sounds depending on what you hit and how you mic it. I generally just use one of the contact mics to mic it, which can be great for some things but not ideal for others. Also effects definitely help, which is why I'm really excited for the Field Kit FX, which is on the way right now). The thing that makes the solenoid sound fairly similar is that there's not much dynamics with how it stikes things. I need to experiment with some different CV levels to see if I can get a dynamic response from it. I also plan on 3D printing some different mounts for the solenoid, kind of like what you get with the Dadamachines Automat.

also, trying to go through every module i don't really use tonight and make the HARD DECISIONS and list everything. totes trying to catch up on over-extending a bit and bank some money for when Mannequins stuff is available again. and pretttttty sure one of them will be the RML Custom Fuzzo. it's so fucking amazing, but i'm using the Sonveskañ in it's place and dig it's synergy and aesthetics with the HeckYeahVla.

It's super good. Doesn't have the wow factor of the others maybe but sooo useful.

Have it. Love it. The two modes (wave/formant) manage to sound similar enough that you can use them in similar contexts, but different enough that there's an immense spectrum of sounds available.

Plus it FMs. And it has a built-in VCA, which should just be a requirement.

Yeah, I'm the resident Mannequins fanboy. But for good reason.

I watched this video and believe the video is cool, sounds good, groovy, etc.

But what is the DFAM doing that other drum modules cannot do?

What struck me as most successful here was the marriage of the drum module with FX.
Honestly most of the drum modules I get I end up using as straight up oscillator voices. I think with the DFAM I'd force myself to use it as a drum module, but I don't think I'm actually going to get one any time soon. Idk what it is about Moog but they have that magic that gets me 9/10 times.

Still on the fence about dropping $ on pre-order whenever it comes back up.

Do you have to be a Code Master to get the most out of this thing? I'm not set up to learn a programming language but I am set up to shred gnarly FX patches.

Only watched a couple vids so far... need to watch more videos.
I think there are more than enough programs installed and on forums like lines which will fill 90% of a user's needs. I think the most common ways of using it fall under all encompassing effect module, a super-sampler, or a complex plumbing/utility system. That versatility makes up for the amount of rackspace it takes up - which is why it appears in so many 208hp cases.

BTW Behndy, how are you liking Mimetic Digitalis so far? My second rack is coming in and I'm thinking about getting a lil NOISY with that + Manis.

PS I do have a Mangrove and at first I was kinda underwhelmed by it but after spending a lot more time with it, it is one of those oscillators that probably won't leave my rack - and I'm still learning all the ins and outs.
