I was watching CNN a little while ago, and they were talking about the students protesting for gun control. Rick Santorum proclaimed that instead of demanding another "phony gun law", they should learn CPR.
I consider myself pretty cynical with respect to politics and politicians, but honestly, I was shocked. Sure, everyone should learn CPR, but his response was the equivalent of "I don't care about putting a stop to lunatics butchering schoolchildren. Just learn to put bandaids on each other's sucking chest wounds and shut up and take it, kids."
These kids are going to reach 18 and start voting over the coming years, and I think this will be the policy issue that matters to them most. We may well see a sea change in gun laws in the coming years.
