Hey Behndy, I'm curious how you're getting on with the Nebulae v2?
I've been toying with the idea of picking one up for mangling sounds live. Not as interested in loading or recording samples onto the USB. I might also just wait for Clouds 2 as a less expensive, 14hp, streamlined Clouds sounds wonderful and would definitely do what I want.

hah! it's funny you should ask. spent an hour two Explory Times with her last night, and just got done with GrrL Hangout Goodness so about to dive more.
i thought i would loveeee it for beats. the granular chop up thing. but it's more finicky than i'd hoped for that and if there's a one shot mode, canna find it.
i looooove it for mangling/stuttering melodic lines though. so good. it works like a better laid our version of the Clouds resample firmware.
i dig it. a lot. and i think the beat mangling is just something i need to get more used to how it wants me to use it? i actually like having the ability to pop sampled vocals or melody or beats onto a flash card and switch between live input/live input grabs or samples.
..... i'm probably going to try out a Clouds v2 as well though. even though i never liked the first one.
so, i think it's solid as hell. but if i get the monies set aside for a GR1, dunno how much i would use it?

Good to know! Thanks! Mangling/stuttering melodic lines is definitely what I am interested in doing. As well as using it to make stretched out ambient soundscapes. Still very tempted to just wait for Clouds 2 or at least until more is revealed about it. I did really like the first Clouds; I honestly don't remember why I sold it at this point. GR1 looks really nice, but is a little intimidating.
Check out pages 17-21 in the manual for one-shot:

Been watching videos on the GR1. It's not quite what I want out of the Nebulae or Clouds as I am more so looking for an effect to process sounds. That being said, it actually looks a lot more straight forward than I was thinking and is 100% something I could get behind.

also, and this is probably a dumb question, but if i'm using a cable as a dummy cable, if it's plugged into an input on both ends, that's okay?
i have both Just Friends next to each other, and it's cleanest putting them both in Run mode by going Run to Run. this would be sending 0 volts to both no?

Yeah if it's plugged into two inputs there shouldn't be any current travelling through it so it should act like two dummy cables.
I thiiiink I figured out my on/off power problem. Seems like the Ripples just doesn't like it if I connect it last after a lot of other modules. If I patch it up first then build the same complicated patch it seems to work fine. Still very mysterious but at least... controllable mysteries?

hurm. that IS odd.
sorry. only solution i see is to REPLACE THE RIPPLES WITH THREE SISTERS. SORRY NOT SORRY.
got in the Dreadbox Drive it's.... weird. i like it with drums a LOT. it adds some compressed punchy butts LOVE. but only at the full on setting. with most things it's almost unnoticeable, even at thr fullest. going to see if there's some jumpers or a chip i can switch because size and design is perrrrrfectttrr.
