The last time I was in FL visiting my mom, we were watching The Florida Channel and Scott came on. My mom practically swooned over him.cherler wrote:I used to live there, and I have no idea how this guy keeps getting elected. He's hated by pretty much everyone I've every met in both parties, he looks like skeletor trying to wear fake skin, and he completely defrauded Medicaid and should be in prison. Hopefully a fixed prison though since we're on the topic, not that he really deserves it.Lurker13 wrote:Consider Governor Rick Scott of Florida. First he wanted legislation requiring all prison inmates in Florida to be drug tested ... wait for it ... by a company he owned controlling interest in. When the FL legislature refused, he had his shares of stock transferred to his wife, and basically said "Look, I don't own it anymore! Can we pass the legislation now?" The legislature refused, but then he got them to pass a law requiring all welfare recipients to be drug tested. His company doesn't take Medicaid, so he tried to have Florida's Medicaid system privatized. The law was eventually declared unconstitutional, but you get the point. The corruption is rampant and needs to stop.
What you say about tribalism is certainly true, but in FL you also have a massive population of retirees who vote Republican because Republicans always promise to keep taxes low. Gyawd, guns, and low, low taxes make the rednecks and retirees happy.Bassist_Diver wrote:Unfortunately far too many people cut off their nose to spite their face. They vote R because their hate towards the democrats/“Clinton Machine” is so severe and misguided that they’d rather elect candidates who are corrupt, immoral, and in many cases evil. That’s the problem we have here in Texas - Beto O’Rourke is a moderate Democrat who is pro-business but also very socially liberal, aka he probably better aligns with most of the state, but because he’s a Dem they’re gonna vote for Ted Cruz even though everyone hates him. It completely boggles my mind.

Good news: Trump Org CFO has been granted immunity, is probably going to flip
If by 'kinda' you mean 'completely', then I 'kinda' agree.
Only insane in that there are people inside the White House who consider themselves unsung heroes but will just destabilize an already flailing administration with much bigger problems on the way.
Wait what? WHAT?Mudfuzz wrote:In other news.. The signs are showing, the panic is about to set in, the loan swapping is about to crumble.

Yup. If only we could predict the terrible disaster that unregulated speculation wrecks on economies by simply looking at every single time it happens throughout history. Oh wait, we can do that, we just choose not to because we're myopic apes.Mudfuzz wrote:https://www.forbes.com/sites/jessecolom ... 5521201b82aedes wrote:Wait what? WHAT?Mudfuzz wrote:In other news..
