in thai language, the number '5' is the sound 'ha', so we use it to show we are laughing. if you are laughing hard, sometimes your fingers slip on a keypad and you accidentally press 6 or other numbers and people know you are laughing really hard uncontrollably. it is way easier to type 5 than to type out manually ha too.
