yeah, I did something quite similar...
was deciding back and forth, then had things to do outside
return home late "god, I almost missed it..."
so I got Damu & Archie
Resent
and two Relapse samplers
LAST FRIDAY
Resent & the samplers are name-your-price btw
I guess I'll just keep that totally cute website D.O.S. posted open all day everyday

Sargent House canceled a few releases and I don't understand why either. Couldn't they have done the same as you're saying and donated? So weird and kind of stupid if you ask me. Pisses me off too because I wanted to support Emma Ruth Rundle more and now I can't. I get it but still, like come the fuck on. People still need to earn money right? She's probably not even upset about it. I am. lol.

If you want to support ERR I would presume she gets a cut of the Red Sparrowes sales from today:

How do you all discover new, good stuff on Bandcamp? I browse around occasionally but there’s just so much.. stuff. And most of it is not what I want to listen to. Good descriptions / genre categorization seems sorely lacking.

I don't use bandcamp for discovery at all, to be honest: when you buy something you can specify that you want to follow the person putting out the album -- so if it's an artist or label I know I'm interested in I will get notifications from their mailing list or when they add products.
So, yeah, word of mouth is how I navigate bandcamp. Or I'll hear something on Spotify and go to buy it. Even going digital I feel like my existing "to buy" list is always going to be larger than what my income allows at any given time anyway

I discover a TON on Bandcamp. Often times I'm looking at their news and note worthy, other times I look at labels that I've bought from before. I also do look through the types of music. The categories aren't always the best but I've found a lot of good ass music on accident on Bandcamp. I love it.
Also, good call DOS!
Death Row Records is on Bandcamp now. Tupac got added, Dr. Dre, Snoop and a few other artist. Interesting. I literally was looking for The Chronic a few days back and I wanted it on Bandcamp.

Same.
Once or twice I've found good stuff off the recommendations on the albums I like but 90% of the time it's word of mouth/I saw them at a gig etc.

SO, here's my haul from yesterday. Sargent House never replied to me either. Pretty disappointed in them. I think they should have done what other companies did and donate the proceeds. Whatever, maybe they will annouce something later. It's obnoxious if they aren't though because they are extremely vocal and right now is the best time to put your money where you mouth is.
Marriage-Salome
Marriages- Kitsune
Nocturnes- A Year of Spring
Nocturnes- Wellington
Old Man Gloom- Willing Vessel B/W In Our Eyes
