Word. I have a useless degree in music theory(took it as a minor years ago). My biggest music break through was when I stopped thinking about notes and felt the music. Worthless time spent. Srv always said the best music came from the heart and not the head. Ever since than (the music insight) I find myself more intune with others and even if I knock myself out of tune while playing its no biggie, I adjust and bend to pitch. You gotta give your guitar date rape drugz and get the feelzzzz. That's what I do.

I'm just very opposed to the idea that guitars must be tuned in the same tuning to be played together.
And if you're playing with keyboard or horn players, you deserve to be castrated if your only means of conveying musical direction it pointing to a fret and saying "dis one. Herp derp."

i would slap a horn player silly if he didnt have relative pitch. thats like being a guitar player without hands. i guess i just expect everyone i jam with to have relative pitch

Relative pitch maybe, but what about the first note of a song?
Do you expect every musician to have perfect pitch?
Standardized notation exists for a reason, might as well use it. I don't want to waste my time dicking around figuring out what key/note some dumb-wad is playing because he can't simply tell me.
On a more positive note, I watched American Pop last night. Fucking awesome movie. I already love Bakshi though.

haha word you got me there. i know my notes too so i guess i just never had this problem, and now that im older im very selective with who i jam with. basicaly I'm gramps style

im into atonal free jams, and improv so i guess im used to just jumping in on a song. i will say this, some of the best musicians i played with didnt know their notes

I used to have a group of guys that we could just jump into a jam with without any discussion, but that was because we were always just comping either in F or in A. Rarely would we be playing in C#m or anything really interesting.
Then I realized how (to me) that's very unsatistfying (and I don't want to be Phish). I want to create wild absurdist songs with catchy melodies, dancy synchronized rhythm, a gajillion chord changes (a la Bowie), and song sections that change drastically at the drop of a hat. You can probably blame that last one on this album here ------->

To point out the obvious... Minority or majority typically refers to the population of the country. A town or city could have a population of which 100% are "minorities," if that group is still relatively small on a nationwide scale.

Because you clearly get far more interesting ads than me. I'd click it I like Joy Division.
Tangentially I played a Roland JC-50 at my local GC's Used section (the best part). OMG, all I could do was play The Cure and Joy Division songs.

That seemed to be a trend for a good portion of the peel sessions.
