Look forward to your review. I had a Chimera and it sounded great but had a limited range of sounds (TO ME) so I passed it along.

lol. watching y'all's pimper knucklets is what got me ITCHY.

want to try the Chimera as well, but i want to see how the Fractactical matches with the 2hp Drums (love. THEM.) and BIA first, then mix in the DU-KRPLS.

This is from about 5 months back. I didn't feel like posting it then, and youtube compression makes the crappy fx look terrible, but today my feeling is fuck it.

Yawn, whatever. I'm much more excited about these guitar & modular improv recordings I just did on my days off:

https://soundcloud.com/warpsmasher/unti ... 1-unedited
https://soundcloud.com/warpsmasher/unti ... 2-unedited
https://soundcloud.com/warpsmasher/unti ... 3-unedited

Basically they're like 3 piece band patches, just drums and a couple of voices, which I play guitar over and tweak a little as I play. 1 and 3 have guitar whammy pitch being modulated by fast rack CV (aka shredulation). These are uncut, insta-mastered stereo recordings that can go straight to the operating table in soundforge, to be edited down to concentrated awesomeness and spiced up with extra sounds. Medium to long improv jams with no pre-planning, just find a guitar sound that works in the mix, hit record, play along with the patch a few different ways, make a few tweaks and wrap it up. Yields recordings that can be turned into album tracks with minimal work.

There is lots of Eternal Spring to be heard in these patches. Such a great module, it is really what lit me up enough to get cracking on some recording, honestly. Qu-Bit Rhythm is also proving to be a great controller for playing guitar with, so easy to adjust on the fly with quick movements of your otherwise busy hand. The Mixology is also great like that for the mute buttons. Big because it's built for fast action. The jumbo Qu-Bit line got some criticism for being unnecessarily large, but they are so very necessarily jammy! They're made for hands on playing just like this, but of course the CV functionality is everything you could want or need in whichever module too. I don't even want to make them externals because they are so vital to the jamstand, especially now that I'm actually using them in that context. Jammiest modules ever.

:)* when you are producing music that dense and intense through a process that feels like jamming, you are doing something right :thumb:

I actually have a Chimera incoming; will post my thoughts once I get it. I have high hopes that it will present a lot of timbral variety for clicky + poppy + dusty IDM percussion. Also looking forward to using it as a granular noise source to FM filters/oscillators.

Thanks man, that's the idea. The editing process is still vital, but this method makes it a lot easier, and captures that jammin' vibe. Just getting a good piece of material to work on is the most important thing. There are still plenty of parts that sound messed up and shitty, but I'll probably try running those parts through the scooper or something before deleting them completely...you know, to make them shitty in a good way. :animal:

I think of it more like a hyperactive frequency exciter than a filter. It can blast anything up to modular level, and into fuzzybits, it can make noise from cv, and it can be the most awesome secret weapon just as a preamp, so the pair is just a great investment. This is the kind of stuff I peer pressured you into modular for, the dope custom behndy stuff. :thumb: :!!!:

Anyone making a black Plaits panel yet? I just saw Pusherman has a listing but none in stock, pretty plain though. I'm going all black...

All black panels makes black cables harder to find and trace in low lighting. Seriously considering going to all white cables. Bored Brain cables look rad, especially in white. I don't care for tangled rainbow spaghetti.

Thinking about maybe getting an Antumbra or uBurst. Was waiting for Clouds2 but that seems like it might be a while now.

Waiting for ILFSS before I buy anything.

so, word on the street (from Oscillasaursususus dooder) is that to change a Plaits panel, you'll have to desolder and resolder a cable. that.... makes me lose interest.

soooooo waiting on a Marbles black panel though.

get a uPlaits!

Warpsy - yesssss. it's a beautiful, BEAUTIFUL mess.

I'd rather solder than tweak mini knobs. Thanks for the tip on Oscillosaurus, will be keeping an eye out for that.
