welllllllll SHIT. think my mixer just died. yay.

had all my shizz unplugged or turned off at the power supply whilst on vacation. just sat down to work on some stuff, turned on my mixer and huge feedback surging started pumping out of my speakers, even with the Main outs turned down. turned everything off. unplugged all the inputs and the speaker outs and the USB input, turned it back on, flickery input peakings galore. tried a different power supply cord, same thing. noticed a burny circuit smell so flipped it off and sent an email to PreSonus support.

sounds like it is horribly, irrevocably fried to me. but i'm a git about mixers.

any suggestionnnnnnnns?

Which mixer is this?? Outboard? WMD?

HAH. and i am TWO months out of warranty. yayyyyyy. emailed PreSonus, but if they want me to pay to ship it back and/or for repairs, probably not going to be worth the monies. sucks. i liked that mixer.

i have a 12 channel buggeriboo that will tide me over, and just bought a Switch so some funds are heading into that, but i think, with using the WMD mixer so much, what i'd really like is a rackmount USB interface that's just inputs. 16 would be awesome.

any suggestions to look at?

yah. i never even saw any flames, but.... SOMEthing was making way too much heat. it's weird that it was fine forever, turned off with the UPS/power strip shut down during vacation, then DIED when turned back on. probably just a coincidence that there was a period of no use between life and death?

That sucks. Did you show them the pics? Did they know if almost started a fire? Most companies would want to know why something catastrophically failed like that, especially if it could actually lead to being liable if something worse happened than charring a desk. Maybe tag them on Instagram or send them the pictures. But at some point I don't know if I would want that product again anyway.
