I love MM amps. I had an HD130 210 combo but sold it a year or so ago. I miss it and didn't realize they were getting so expensive now, bummerrrrr.

frodog wrote:Damn, a lot of cool amps on these last pages. At the rehearsal space I use an HH IC100 similar to yours , coldbrightsunlight. That one is two channels but yours is one and maybe also w/ tremolo? Anyway they're great.

Like I posted in the GAS thread, an early '80s Music Man 112RD 100 turned up locally and I got it down to the equivalent of $565, so had to get. A Fender black face-type amp has been on my wishlist for a while, but a Super Twin (like my friend has) is way too heavy for me, plus usually expensive. This baby I was able to pick up in my car and carry up the two flights of stairs to my place without gassing out completely, although it was not pleasant.

The TOANZ, however! Definitely a step up from the Peavey Pacer that it displaced, tho that's also a good SS amp and I would say it has a better reverb tank. But then the MM has the two TAD 6L6 output tubes, two channels (the distortion is awesome), working original footswitch and all that. EV speaker, gets plenty loud but can be put on 50w mode, and of course it takes pedals really well.

That is fuk'n rad! :!!!:

My HH is two channels with reverb :) Though the dirty channel doesn't seem to work quite right and I don't love the reverb... so it's basically just the clean channel I use.

Oh I see, you have the V-S Musician. The IC 100 has this 'studio/stage' switch where the stage setting is louder and dirtier, so that's what I use in order to be heard. But I prefer the studio setting sound-wise. Haven't really ever dialed it in perfectly tho, so at times I don't like the way it takes certain pedals. But certainly a workhorse amp that sounds good recorded (w/ ribbon mic an arm's length away) and looks fab.

I did see that MM amps were expensive at Rvrb, JonWain, so I offered the guy what I saw in the price history chart (around the lower end of course hehe) and got lucky he took it (it was originally listed at close to 1k). Dude had a pretty lavish house and multiple fancy guitars/amps so I don't feel bad!

Ah interesting. The VS musician has this "valve sound" switch that does... something to the EQ and feel of the amp. Interesting feature though I'd be more interested to know what it's actually doing haha. Pretty much just leave it on though. Have also found it does not love all my pedals, however it's set, but I can get some great clean and fuzz tones out of it.

NICE! I've never built a full-up 200S/Dynaco style thing myself but I did build the backend for one once. A friend makes the Tronographic Rusty Box pedals, which are fairly straight up recreations of the preamp from a Traynor TS-50B. He had me build him an amp using the Rusty Box PCB as the preamp for a Sunn style backend. Chassis was his, and sadly I didnt get the chance to make it into a proper completed amp with a cab and faceplates and all that. It still came out pretty rad, though:
