on the non-video game front, we're starting a Geist: The Sin-Eaters campaing tomorrow and i'm excited and terrified. it's been so long since i've last played pen & paper, like a decade or something. seems like a game with weird possibilities, though.
Tell me more about this. What style/theme is it etc?
Googling is no fun.
alright. it's set in the White Wolf's World of Darkness and is similar to other games in that world in the way that it's one of their storyteller game system thingy. so it's basically more about the story and drama than stats and winning. so if d&d is sorta like a computer game where you kill things to gain stats to kill more things, ST games are more like a bad soap opera on tv where you try your best to scheme and just step into a ton of drama and politics. vampire the masquerade was a big hit of theirs in the nineties and had a huge impact on pop culture.

anyways, this game is set in the World of Darkness, which is like the multiverse where most of their gamelines do their thing. a modern, nineties gritty world, which is a dark reflection of ours. so everything is sorta like it really is, but a bit more cyberpunk, a bit more dark knight, a bit more blade. you get the gist of it.
the player characters are people who have died, and upon the moment of death have met a Geist and struck a deal. a geist is sort of like a rat king of ghosts and spirits. a being which has lost touch of it's original personas and has become this otherworldly deathspirit archetype, like a nightmare personification of fear and hate of hundreds of dead souls, which might look like a small girl who's constantly on fire or a man drowning on dry land or whatever, but who isn't THAT little girl who died in that fire some time ago or THAT man who set sail a few years back and was never seen again. it's a THING and it just brought you back to life and gave you mystical ghost powers.

so the game is basically about you dying for some reason (and that reason matters. if you die violently, you attract a different kind of geist with different powers and motivation than if you die of a disease or a freak accident or whatever), and trying to figure out what to do with your life now that you've faced death and made a deal with it. it's about your second chance. but it's not all about living. you're not alone anymore. there's a nightmare living inside you and it wants something. and you promised it something. and you also see ghosts and shit now, will you try to help them pass on, will you try to profit off of them or what?

sooo, yeah. let's see what's gonna happen.

Played Destiny 2 all last week. about 40 hrs (was off work). Have two characters at 270 power level. Only thing left to do on 2 characters is Nightfall before reset. Then I have to grind out the quests for exotic rewards.
I spent a portion of my time playing and replaying the story with friends, so I didn't get as far as I thought I would.

Hive mind: Zelda BOTW DLC-- should I get it before finishing the game or after? Am I missing out on a big enhancement by putting it off? Is it a lukewarm prolonging of ennui if you've already finished the game?

I picked up a new 2DS after watching my kids discover chinpokomon and I missed it. A bunch of us used to dick around at work over lunch with this, and I kinda missed it.. I've been slowly owrking my way through Pokemon X/Y and GTA: Chinatown Wars.

I've not gotta pre-order multiple copies of Pokemons Ultra to cover all of us. I'm such a failure at being an adult.

I'm kinda torn on the Ultras. I played Moon and it was a real mixed bag. I don't know how much I want to endorse an annual rerelease with what amounts to minor DLC tacked on.

My kids have only played ORAS, now. I only did Emerald and DIamond and now X/Y. They claim that the Ultras will be the last handheld release (which I find hard to believe), but since none of us have done them I'm all for letting my kids get them day of release and enjoy their first actual nerd boners.

I'm a Pokémon vet, started on Blue when I was... 5? I've played every gen except 4/5 (never had a DS). I ain't got time for the bullshit of breeding to get good stats, IV training, whatever the hell new mechanics they started putting in after gen2. I just get ones that look cool, teach them devastating moves, blast through the game till I get bored. Then, I just start a new game when I want to come back to it.

I call my 3ds "my gameboy" coz it fills the same purpose and has the same games as that teal GB colour I got 20 yrs ago.

Don't know how I feel about the TLoU2 trailer. Admittedly, it took me at least 3 attempts to get into the first, by then I discovered the real charm to the game which made me appreciate it more and made the story hit harder. I get that its a trailer that's only get to reestablish the world. I'm just kind of over every form of media just being full of grim assholes.

Though I'd still happily take the surreal Japanese horror of dead crows in microwaves :idk:

I loved the first one. It made me think and respond like no other video game before or after, and I'm into post apocalyptic stuff as it is and I didn't mind that it was zombies and not nuclear war... but the sequel trailer doesn't excite me at all. I mean, it looks stupid good, but I'm not feeling a draw in the slightest.

I won't claim I won't buy it, I will for sure, but unless it does something to grab me I'll wait for a sale.

TLOU was a pretty good movie but those bits where the main guy kept dying coz he couldn't get past one set of guys or zombies really killed the pacing for me.

I feel disgusting, bought some Overwatch Lootboxes for the McCree skin. Didn't get it and am now $25ish short. Though, I did get a fair amount of Golds. Just for noone I care about

Pretty much, yeah.
