Like how did that meeting go
"Ok guys so were going to make this really disgusting looking alien with four tits for genitalia and luke is going to go up and milk one of the tits into a giant baby bottle drink it and look rey in the eye while it oozes like semen off his moustache then cut to the alien groaning rapturously"

Hahahaha. Also I'd like to know whose idea it was to give it a greenish cast.

It would have been cool if they had just had luke turn into this crazy insane old hermit like yoda but they didnt and it was a giant missed opportunity. There were alot of indications that some one at some point wanted it to play out that way but in the end we just steered it another direction.
I think thats the theme for the whole shitty movie to be honest. "Were going to make it clear that we could have gone one direction and initially started to do that but abruptly changed our minds and just made up some boring shit to pad it out to three hours"

Yep it was weird because he was sorta crazy hermit-ish, but then they'd throw in whiny bits of young luke. Also he was either crying or on the verge of crying the whole time.

BUT... will say, Luke was one of the best things about the movie, I thought.

I thought he really phoned it in. Listening to the interviews it sounds like thats exactly what happened.

Taika Waititi is one of my favorite directors and responsible for some of my favorite movies (What’s We Do in the Shadows) and most enjoyable movie theatre experiences in the last couple years (Hunt for the Wilderpeople). I liked Thor ok, but think it would have been better served with that director to stay on the garbage planet and not do the Asgard plot line.

Yeah but this is what Luke Skywalker has always been in the movies - a whiny jerk who is constantly battling against himself. The crazy hermit-ish stuff is him going full Luke Skywalker, fully retreating into his own self interests.

Sounds like David Lynch needs to fulfill his destiny and direct the third one of the trilogy. At least it'd make the crazy shit more tolerable, especially if he turns up as Darth Cole trying to bum a cigarette off purple rinse Laura Dern.

I like Laura Dern but jesus she bugged me in this movie. Weirdly smiley, and looking way too Hunger Games.

Saw it last night. I can sum it up by saying my 5-year-old son was continuously telling me he was bored and that his main source of entertainment the last week has been watching daffy duck cartoons and Super Mario Odyssey playthroughs on youtube.
