I would LOVE to see subforums by effects category...a reverb/delay forum, a modulation forum, a synth based effects forum...just a suggestion that might get people directed to the right information a little faster.

by psychic vampire.
Maybe tags instead of more subforums.

I disagree, it seems like that would solve a problem that doesn't exist

you could just use the search feature or make a thread

Searching is more fun.
You find all the really weird shit that way.
That's what makes this place great.
Just when you thought you'd scratched the surface, the chasm opens up and the abyss runs deeper.

Has anyone else been having trouble viewing youtube videos that are posted? Only like half the video is visually on the screen for each video. Very weird. I can still click them, but it doesn't show the names or anything. Just started doing that like a week ago. I thought it was some kind of fluke.

I've been having issues w/ YouTube in general. Not sure it's anything specific to ILF though.

The I love doom nav button at the top leads to a page saying the account is suspended (i think b/c its a direct link to I lovedoom.com). The subforum works fine, though.
Please, can someone turn the basement light back on?

This forum's software is way past an upgrade.

We are lucky we even have this forum. It was close a few times there!
I think there needs to be stricter policies in the bst area in regards to people selling their made shit. I see folks pedaling their wares constantly but they don't have Shark Tanks, so it's not really fair to the folks that do IMO.

Yeah, I agree, but newer software provides a more stable platform for the forum. The argument can be made both ways.
I mean, there's a lot of stuff in the forum that's barely used. Like the recording/guitar subforums, 99% of the time the relevant threads are posted in general gear, most of the links on the top bar lead to dead destinations. Search can be broken and there are a lot of quality of life changes that we could benefit from such as @mentions and a better messaging system. This is not even counting media posts and anything related to the b/s/t.
Also better mobile would be nice for those of us that ilf from the loo.

I dunno. I think the forum works ok. I browse 90% of the time on my mobile and the worst part of the experience is typing on my stupid phone.
I can't see Tom wasting fuzz building resources on updating the forum.

I'm with you on this. I think having notifications, etc would be rad. I'm not sure how forum software works, though—is it a one time purchase, or more of a recurring charge kind of thing? I'd imagine it's the latter, as everything seems to be going that direction these days.
I've been impressed with a lot of the mod cons I've seen in new forum software, and would be more than happy to chip in if it could be a crowdsourcing thing.
However, if the current form of ILF is the way it needs to be from a financial/continued healthy existence standpoint, I'm 110% behind it staying as is.

from my experience with other forums ILF's functionality is pretty damn good. thing is from my past knowledge that this site is usually either barely keeping up with hosting expenses or running at a deficit out of Tom's pocket, so any upgrades would likely be financially unfeasible or unfeasible in the amount of work and time investment needed to do said upgrade.
that being said, myself and i'm sure others on here would be happy to help contribute time and money to meet these ends. unfortunately from my perspective, Tom's IRL commitments might be at the crux of our ability to make any changes whatsoever.
I would like to see better search functionality and the ability for users to delete their own BST posts when items are sold, and I actually can't think of much else that ILF needs.
