Apparently I've been banned from TGP for posting about how many great NBA, MLB and NFL players wore the jersey number 34.

I guess some people just don't believe in fair play and a level playing field and athletic excellence.

TGP is a shitshow. Mods are very narrow-minded.

Rollie Fingers' mustache, however, is beyond compare. :wizard:

I made no mention of anything more "controversial" than how awesome it is that a pitcher has the name "Rollie Fingers" and that the confluence of that mustache with the design of the 1970s uniforms of the Oakland A's is beyond reproach, groovy and spectacular.

The other thing I don't understand is that they ban you and there is apparently a "message" in your inbox indicating why you were banned, but you can't access it because you are banned. They also require you to "acknowledge" something but don't tell you what it is until you click that you "acknowledge" it, which then tells you how long you are banned for but not why.

Seems like a slipshod shitshow and I frequently contemplate either 1) never logging in there again or 2) posting something "taboo" in my signature since they don't allow you to nuke your account or previous posts.

All I know is that he’s a man of many convictions.

Also, my compliments to Seance’s trollolling. That ban is well earned.

Ha. I had two semi long lived accounts on TGP, and a number of very short lived suicide-by-trolling ones.

The great thing about sports is that everyone plays by the same rules.
You can complain about the ref, but you live with the results.

And who doesn't like flashy logos and fun mascots and neat (non-military) uniforms?

i can't deal with TGP. it's like the fathers of all the assholes who post in the guitar- and pedal-related subReddits. i'm not interested in dicta from dicks. especially when they try to say shit that i know from a lifetime of experience is 100% wrong.

the political blackout thing is still working well for me. occasionally i look at my Twitter "For You" to get a sense of what's happening in the background. having given up hope on anything happening in my lifetime, i'm just voting for the least worst in strictly utilitarian fashion. i've concluded that at 67 and in somewhat dodgy health, the best ways to affect the world for me now are making good art and taking care of my sweetie. the US is set up so nothing meaningful can change without a cataclysm leading to a consensus on What To Do, and that's not going to happen unless 35% of the population gets Lenin-ized. if you get my drift.

there was a self-appointed hippie guru in San Francisco circa 1968-70 called Stephen Gaskin, who you might have heard of from his leadership of The Farm in Summertown, TN, which was founded when he and his family tried to fuck off out of SF and move to the country and his followers said "we're going with you." they were best known for sparking a revival of midwifery, creating elaborate tie-dyes with the then-new procion-reactive dyes (the elaborate folded-block style with the geometric rosettes, six-pointed stars, etc. that became so popular in the 80s/90s started there), and doing vegan food products and cookbooks. he had his issues (as most spiritual-leader types do, feet of clay and all that) but he also had some insights. he once said that we had to understand that none of the things we're working towards will come to fruition in our lifetimes, that this kind of evolutionary change in a culture takes hundreds of years, and that all we can expect is to take our turn pushing the wagon up the hill. it's not a cheerful thought, but it has the advantage of being dead-ass true.

there's a song on the (wonderful) new Ride album that talks about this:

running from a life
that's running out of time
believing in a future
that won't be yours or mine
the wheel of suffering
can only turn again
with diminishing returns
for the same old men...

last night i went somewhere to dream

if i dream it
i can see it
if i see it
i can feel it
if i feel it
i can be it
i can be it
if i dream it

I'm fine with Hunter Biden being found guilty on 3 felony counts, and spending some time in prison. Hopefully this means the Justice Dept. will start aggressively charging more gun dealers and buyers who falsify their paperwork, don't do the required background checks, etc.

I think gun felonies should be charged and sentenced by weight, like they do with narcotics. So Hunter Biden is on the hook for probably .5 kilos, while an AK47 related charge would be more like 5 kilos. (I am not a gun person so I don't know specific weights)

yeah, i don't mind any Bidens being put in jail other than Commander and Willow, the dog and cat. just because i hate fascists doesn't mean i don't also hate center-right "moderates."

i still say Commander only bit Secret Service agents that were sub rosa MAGAs.

Well, the polling is gonna flip with more Republicans willing to hire a felon than Democrats.

Who’s woke now?
