It doesn't bother me, but I do feel like I am only posting tangentially related content at this point now that my modular is all gone :idk:
behndy wrote:November November Never Forget The Misters Of Novembers - i did a longer ramble on the Cycles thread, but shortly - so far love it. knobs for single/dual functions where everything is top level? beautiful. fun to program, deep enough but still quick and easy, the sounds have solid presets and bases to build off, can get way different VERY quickly.
Yes I saw/read/appreciate that write up! You are pushing me towards the Model Cycles for sure. I also had a few other ideas regarding how it would fit in with my existing gear. Specifically, I think it will work very well with the NDLR and DX7.

yeah. i love using the modular but... i'm getting frustrated not actually finishing anything i want to keep. and it's because of what i enjoy about Euro. the fluidity and options in design are so much fun, but then i tear it down and start over. i don't want to break up the 12u i have, i love using it. but i want to focus on repeatable results, why i'm excited about moving more All In One hardware and a main controller.

doooood it looks so FUN! i jumped on that bish the day he opened the KS. and he's been a peach about discussing workflow and options on it, he actually redesigned 2 or 3 major software options and added a port or two from chatting with people on the Muffs thread.

I didn't jump on the Flux, but wanted to like a motherfucker. Looks amazing, and the addition of the micro usb slot is awesome in regards to unlimited presets and what have you.

I've been enjoying my DFAMDFAMM32 case more than my ultra-complicated 370/301 case and even the MN B&G SS recently. Simple, repeatable tunes and easy as pie to get something cool going in mere minutes.

I don't think I like sampling, as much as I want to.

I should sell everything and buy a gong.

I've actually been thinking about selling my Rev2 because I don't find it as fun and productive as modular. It can technically do a lot, it's just more convoluted to do complex things. And I'm too critical of presets I make.

This probably means I just need to practice playing keys.

boof. i am a SHIT keyboard player. i'm okaaaaay with sequencers?

i mean. the idea is to keep the fun of patching but add some repeatability? Black Box for sampling down bits i'll never be able to get back, Pyramooooood for saving down patterns and melodies and non-Euro hardware patching?

Same here. I can work my way around a sequencer and honestly have little motivation to play keys well. At best I want to know how to play keys well enough to make good use of the Keystep sequencer's ability to overwrite as it plays back.

This brings up the question: What do you all tell people when they ask what instrument you play?

I'm usually too lazy to explain what a modular synth is but saying "I produce electronic music" also feels less true and more obnoxious.

hah! Pyramidals ACQUIRED. annnnnd i'm too wiped out to sit down and start teaching myself it tonight. TOMORROW.

dooder seemed like a very nice human.

now. to grab a Minilogue XD module for the polyphonics and... i dunno... kinda like the Sirin for a good analog mono synth box? anything else i should look at? tiny, with presets and save spots is GOOD.

My strategy with unrepeatable modular fun is that if I find something really great I leave it patched in until I properly record it. Then when it's recorded I'm done :idk:

But I have no intention to play repeatable stuff live with modular. I'd use it live for a mostly improv set but if I want repeatable I'll pick up something else.

HOW I LIVE MY LIFE BEBE.

naw. but with 12u, one can end up with a patch that's redoable.... somewhat?

i dunno. even with the Metron and FLXS having saves i just feel like i always get about halfway done with what i'd want to keep as a song and get distracted and repatch or try to figure out a change and just... stay static?

maybe that's it. i get to where i really like stuff going on, but to go the next part i have to move away enough that i never go back to what i had? like i feel Part A is perfect, cool. start on Part B. but then halfway through Part B it gives me an idea for an alternate Part A or i want to bridge the gap between the two i have to change so much to go back i never do?

that's why i love the A B C D E alts so much on Metron. that fits my scattered brain approach to figuring things out.

Holy WOW....... the new workstation from Polyend looks like it may be exactly what I’ve been waiting for as a sequencer but also so much more. The ability to use this with their Poly midi to cv module.... not a ton of info until the 18th but this teaser checks all the boxes:

I dig the tracker style workflow of NerdSeq but hated using it due to the small screen and general size for quick edits. This changes that. Then I’ll have SEQ for quick and ease of use sequencing. Preset for modulation sequencing. Medusa as one of my main synths.... white pads everywhere!

I have (and am currently selling) a Moog Sirin. It's an excellent little box that sounds great, but it doesn't really fit my current setup/workflow. Also, I'm pretty sure the presets require the computer (maybe tablet?) app. Not positive, but pretty sure.

Yeah I'm keeping my eyes on that one. I've never used a tracker style workflow so I have no idea how I'd get along with it, but it seems like it could cover a lot of territory. I'll have to sell a few things to afford one though, so at the very least it's going to have to be able to replace my Digitakt

i thinnnnk it also takes MIDI CC for program change and i am going to be using it 99% of the time at home, so i'm fine with being tethered to the PC. and/or swapping presets with the Squarpers.

looks awesome! i am super excited about how i hope i can roll with the Squaaaar, but i have alwayyyyys wanted a Seq and together they looks butts fun.

but i am trying to figure out how to fit a 8-12 input mixer for hardware stuff.

also - Max from Soma got back to me, he said his tracking shows that my Pulsarrrrr is in customs at NYC. which. like. COME ON. IT'S BEEN SHIPPING FOR A MONTH. GIMME. but. at least i know it's actually in transit, not lost in the void between countries that no one acknowledges but must exist else why would we have these demarcations between people based on something as silly as geography.

That's not what I said

But working with some samples that mangled in a particular way, a complicated patch, interfaces with other gear... I like to get it recorded. Doesn't mean I can't remember how to patch up something similar in the future, but why have something similar if I can record the thing itself. :animal: again, this is all based on the fact that I have no intent on using the modular outside of the context of recording.
