back on the "get into sports nutrition/training" kick again.

Jwar. Dudes. Anyone who might know: I'd like to look into a degree/certificate/anything that will teach me enough to get started, BUT....... I work in a health food chain ("health food" being a silly term imo, shouldn't it ALL be healthy?) and I've asked a few nutritionists who work for us about this. I asked them, "if I go college for a nutrition degree, am I going to learn anything really useful beyond the basics of how the body works? Am I going to learn anything that has anything to do with modern research? (for example: why fats are GOOD for you, why the dietary cholesterol scare is misinformed, etc) OR am I just going to be "learning" a bunch of FDA approved, status quo crap so I can get a piece of paper so I can get a job where I'm still going to have to educate myself or go to someone else to learn anyway?" Not to mention be in debt for that.....

So I'm wondering if anyone has any info at all on good programs. I'm also curious if there are any worthwhile online programs, even if just for certificates. Unless I can find a way to work part time while attending some classes, online is the only way I'll be able to fit it in. :/

thoughts, info?

thanks

Check out Precision Nutrition. That's the nutrition course I'm taking and the guy that puts it on is a PHD in nutrition. http://www.precisionnutrition.com/

He has a blog and all kinds of useful stuff you can get for free. I get emails from him constantly with updates on nutrition. Super intelligent guy. I love the course and would highly recommend it! At very least, like them on facebook, read the blog and do things like that for awesome free info!

ShaunNecro wrote:Cool news for me, I'm officially down 20 pounds and now only a few pounds above 200! I've cheated here and there and definitely ate some stuff that I shouldn't have, but I feel 20 pounds in about two months is pretty good. Hopefully once I get back to around 180 my knees will stop hating me.

20 lbs in 2 months is amazing! I'll be lucky to do half that.
3 weeks ago I started my "see food" diet. In short I see food I eat food, caveat it has to be actual food designed for human nutrition ie; veggies, fruit and meat. I'm down a little less than 5lbs, but I do eat alot of food and permit cheating on the weekends since it's the only time I actually get to share meals with my family.
During the week I eat salads, 2 a day with wraps (2 with meat and veggies) in the morning. The salads are hyper compressed in mason jars with air removed via food sealer device.

I need to incorporate exercising again, I think that'll boost (or help) my weight loss.

Thankfully I don't have knee problems; just have had a few setbacks in life and wanted to do something positive for myself to hopefully force things in a more positive direction.

yep :hello:
binaural beats and such things work when you get into them. a little bit of a meditative mind set would help.
listen to it - without paying attention to it - if that makes sense?
even without headphones .. i just listened to this short little noise .. and my whole body feels lighter and loose.
i really only notice the first hour after listening.

Yeah that shit had an instant effect. My nostrils became a little less clogged. Very Centering. interesting.

Went for a run earlier and lifted some weights. Felt great.

I'm sure there's something to it but I'm WAY too high strung for it to work on me. LOL
