That c4rbn looks really cool. Hadn't seen it before. I have never tried WMD stuff but I really like the designs and ideas behind a lot of the modules. I'm consistently tempted...

i LOVE WMD. they make the best stuff. Metron is amazing, with the Volteras it's a full sync'd gate/CV/melody MONSTER.

everything of theirs i've had, AMAZEBUTTS.

lol. i am NOT commenting on that.

but... if i were starting with zero modules, i would be suuuuuper happy with an all WMD setup.

looks like i have an ES-9 coming in. going to try that and a SL MixFACEEEEE (fucking adore that name) as my mixing/monitoring/getting audio in and out of my computer setup. super excited about being able to send CV and gates to and fro from modular and computer lands.

also, i don't know if i got a bum unit, but i am very VERY close to just saying fuck this Typhon and seeing if DetMod will take it back.

i talked to them again, they have no advice at all. just "can't reproduce that".

i unplugged my hub, plugged the Typhon as the only device besides Push into my computer, it works fine until i hit play on Live. and i've gone to a blank file with just a MIDI track, sending out the appropriate MIDI port. works fine until i record or play a MIDI file, then it fucking goes to shit. used a filter to make sure just Notes are going, no CC's, checked the MIDI Control envelopes, all are empty except volume and pan.

the thing works fine with Digitone Keys controlling it standalone, works fine with Seq going straight into it. works fine with those two or Push routed through Live. until i record or play.

opened up an older copy of Cubase (9), made an empty file with just one MIDI track going into Typhon, worked perfectly. recorded fine, played back fine, played live fine.

it's already past more effort than i want to put into getting it to work. they think they MIGHT have an update soon that does MIDI over USB, i don't see how that would help but i might wait for that.

fucking FUCK.

The vibe I'm getting from the newer WMD stuff is that it is very performance driven in design.
I'm not sure if there is a genre they are shooting for?

I barely have 6ux88hp....so now would be the time to do it.

WMD modules seems well thought out, small, not too quirky and highly flexible/has all options built in.

yurp. to me it feels like.... they have a vision for what a full WMD system would be, and they adjust what they put out to fit that. and a big part of that is definitely interacting with pieces live. they totally plan stuff to flip around easily.

the Carbon looks baller, the Sclpl looks hellza cool, very different small filters, Javelin looks like a super fun self contained VCA/envelope and the way it scales with repeated triggers is similar to how Nat Gates responds (i am craaaaazy excited for mines to hit this week), they added the Axxent as a Metron extra so you don't lose gate outs to send to accent inputs, their drum loot is wonnnnnderful.

big fan.

fucking FUCK.
read the live manual. I gave you detailed instructions earlier. go into live preferences. go to midi. you need to enable track output for the device. what does "goes to shit" mean? it doesn't output notes? silence? be descriptive in describing the problem please so I can actually solve it from what you say. did you read what I wrote in my previous post about loading up a midi monitor plugin in live? your "notes only" filter is irrelevant since you have disabled all output from track. in preferences I bet you probably have remote but no track. I always disable sync unless it is an external drum machine with a built in sequencer. use the max 4 live midi monitor plugin to show that it is not sending notes from track because you disabled it in preferences. I highly doubt the problem is with the typhoon. the problem is entirely a problem with live. before you submit a bug report with ableton you first need to learn how to use ableton. read the manual.

%100 WMD is for a complete techno live performance rack.

if you were sampling drums and synths into the computer it would be completely different. I would get a cwejman BLD II and an Intelijel Plonk. making techno one track at a time I would do something like this maybe.

https://www.modulargrid.net/e/radikal-t ... tor-rt-311

https://www.modulargrid.net/e/stg-sound ... ls-filter-

ambient?

https://www.modulargrid.net/e/4ms-compa ... oscillator

https://www.modulargrid.net/e/strymon-magneto

the BLD does drums or synth voice but not at the same time. you can also patch external audio into the filter.

well that is fucking weird. because i did pay attention to your advice, yes, i read the manual, i'm not an idiot. i understand Sync and Track and when i setup a MIDI port i leave Sync off unless there's a sequencer it's hitting. i KNOW i had that turned off. but i just made a track, clicked all options on and off a few times, set the out for that MIDI cable to just Track and... it works fine. i mean, it's a solution i know i already paid attention to, but fuck it. it WORKS.

thanks!

Has anyone tried WMD?
I love WMD. At least half my setup is WMD:
https://www.modulargrid.net/e/racks/view/851029

I'm probably biased because I live in Denver and at this point I count William and Alex as friends. At this point, I'll probably buy everything. The Synchrodyne + Exp is probably my favorite. Got a bunch of MME+Exps because I love that envelope core so much. It's the same core in the Javelin, so highly recommend that (And avoid the ADSRVCA). So yeah, LOVE WMD.

MMG turned up today. Only played five minutes with a sine wave to test it but it sounds very good. Does what I wanted, really.
