Guys.... let's lighten the mood a bit.

... and talk about abortion.
I think it's selfish to bring a child into the world when you, as a parent, are not prepared, and it's not fair on the child. Plus, the arguments that "life begins at conception" totally ignore that each sperm cell is alive.
I dunno... I just don't see a good argument for making it illegal.

Agreed, but I thought Roe v. Wade took care of this in the 70s. Kill zygotes all day son.

I've never really felt strongly about abortion either way. I do think it's absolutely asinine to maintain that life starts at conception. But I can see the argument that it's bad, mmkay to allow abortion when you're like fucking full-term. So I would probably be ok with drawing a line somewhere, as long as it's based in science and not religion. If we want to get scientific and dorky about it, when do we consider someone dead? No pulse AND no brain activity. So couldn't we start from there for determining when life starts? Heartbeat in a fetus is pretty early, around 8 weeks or so. Brain activity is quite a bit later, usually around 24-27 weeks, which is basically the start of the third trimester. So that's a pretty good line for when life is considered to start. I think I'd probably be ok with that compromise.

That's a good point. Why would life begin at a different place than it ends? Most (the vast majority) abortions happen within the first 13 weeks...

I think almost all reasonable and rational people understand abortion is a necessary, if uncomfortable necessity.
Right behind childbirth itself, the largest historical killer of women has been illegal abortions. You can never stop it, the less safe access you have translates into scores more death.
The real threat we have right now is the Republican defunding of Planned Parenthood, and the many bills being passed across the country limiting access to it.
