i've got my fuzz covered finally, so i want a nice boost... i was looking at the Freakshow #9, Zvex's SHO and devi's boost offerings. anybody have experience with any of them, or other recommendations? i'm no good with a soldering iron, so that option is out the window.

You could always go with an eq pedal as a booster. It'll give a lot more tonal variation than a 1-2 knob deal and most I've come across give at least 15db of just level boost.

Over at talkbass, some people rave about the Catalinbread boost pedals. They have the Serrano Picoso, and also the Chili Picoso. Plus, they're tiny, so if you care about pedalboard space, you may want to take a look there. Also, several people over there use the EHX LPB-1

punch love is wicked, the 05 side especially.

I would recommend a SHO, which I have, it is a clean boost but adds a pleasant treble-lift and gets small hints of dirt when cranked. The O5 is also good, it have even more of a treble-lift and is little more like a very gentle overdrive, has insane amount of gain of course (it's a deviever). I also have a Maxon compressor that also can act as a clean boost when the sustain-knob is all the way down and the volume-button is maxed.

SHO is a solid pedal, though everyone always complains how expensive it is vs how simple the guts are. I like the sound, dunno if I'd throw down the cash for one though.

Can't go wrong with the punch love...clean and dirty boost. If you come around here you probably already want one.

I've got a fuzzhugger hugger (sounds funny...) and I dig it...I mostly use it as a pre-boost to drive the crap out of a fuzz in the loop, but it can be used as a regular boost, dual stage boost, pre and/or post boost w/ the loop.

Anyone have experience with the Catalinbread Super Chilli Picoso? Boost/buff...with all these damn true bypass pedals could use a good buffer.

don't know much about boosts, but I just picked up a bbe freq boost on ebay for 20 bucks. It wouldn't be worth the $100 that it goes for new, but it's honestly a really cool pedal for how cheap it goes for used. It's true bypass and is housed in a really solid metal case. With the volume all the way up on it I can get some crazy fuzzy overdrive out of my amp. Technically it's a treble boost I guess, so it brightens your tone a little too, but my amp really needed that, so it was what I wanted. I would totally recommend this pedal for the money if you want to get some nice natural tube overdrive or to combine with pedals.

I'd really like to give the mellowtone hi five plus or deluxe a try...anyone here played one?
