some octave fuzz questions - down and up.

ok so i'm thinking about doing a little run of some larger enclosure buzzzes featuring an octave down and clean blend but i'm unsure about how most people would be psyched about using those options and i need your help to figure it out. octave down will not be a polyphonic thing, but gnarly and possibly the option for glitchiness which i think will compliment the buzzz for ferocious low end pummeling.
so here are my thoughts:
global clean blended with parallel octave up/down sort of like a gnar POG?
global clean blended with parallel octaves but also possibly octave down into octave up as a switchable option.
clean blended with octave down that can either be run in parallel with the octave fuzz or in series (likely octave down > buzzz)
would it be better to have a global clean or fuzz (probably not an option for both, though *maybe*?) to blend with the octave down and octave up?
if a global control is on there it will necessitate 4 stomps. master bypass, buzzz bypass, buzzz option, octave down
if no global it can be 3. buzzz bypass, buzzz option, octave down
what say you my fuzzbreaux?

So if I'm getting it right the octave down is separate from the buzz circuit and the clean blend is separate from both the octave down and the buzz circuits?
I think I'd just implement the clean with the octave down, have the buzz circuit separate and go with three footswitches.

I like the idea of being able to choose parallel/series octaves. Not sure if in that setup it would make more sense to have a global clean blend or a clean blend only on the oct down part.

Definitely love the parallel octave down/up idea. Some of the heaviest tones I've ever gotten have been from parallel octave down with normal fuzz.
I also like the idea of a global clean blend. When the octave up is engaged on the Buzzz, there's no low end loss or anything (cause of them subz) but it might be nice to have some of the dry mixed in there anyways.
I really like this idea.

I think this sounds like a cool idea! I would definitely include a clean blend. also, if you can incorporate some boost onto the blend, it would be cool to have a toggle switch that changes between clean blend and clean cut/boost. So I guess I'm pro 4x footswitches. But, when you step on the master bypass without having any of the 3 buzzz/sub switches enabled, you can get a clean boost. Dunno if that makes sense. It might just be kinda hard to use, haha

Not sure if the boost should go before or after the buzzz circuit (maybe after), but I'm a fan of large format pedals having an extra mode that might reduce the need for another pedal.

Pssst...
Add a mid boost?
My amp doesn't have a mids control, so flat mids are still not very...middy.

i don't even know what global means
but you know
per our conversation
this is what was asking for
all i require is being able to switch off octave
an octave mix would be nice but not necessary
and because i use pitch shifting so much
octave before dirt is usable and gnarly and huge
octave after is crazy, glitches out, heavy drippy as fuck
an order switch would rule
i say switchable series
with an octave mix or level or whatever
that is if this has anything to do with what i was asking you about
boost should go in between
but I'm not sure its necessary
this thing is gonna curl toes
fuck yeah

Interesting ideas.
If it was for me, I would think that to envision three parallel signal paths - Buzzz, octave down, and clean - and each with a volume control for it, so you could blend as you see fit. Maybe the octave down needs a footswitch, or maybe not, I dunno...maybe people who like it would want it on all the time?
Anyway, it would also be great to have the option in that setup for the Buzzz and octave down channels to be run in series. Would it be crazy to have a three-way switch so a person could decide what order they wanted them in? So something like parallel-octave into buzzz-buzzz into octave. That said, I can imagine octave into Buzzz would be the most popular.
I know with the parallel drive channel pedal that I just bought, I was already thinking to myself how a) I wish each "side" had its own footswitch, and b) I wish I could decide to run the sides in series (and alternate between the order). So I guess that's why I'm suggesting this now to you.

all im sayin is octave down into dirt
is like roar
if parallel means what i think
its just not gonna slam that buzz
maybe thats the point though
i may be the only one wanting it to degrade me

If there were a parallel/series switch and a global clean blend, everyone would be happy.

Thinking about it some more I guess it also depends on how the octave up of the buzzz reacts to the octave down.
To have two distinct tones you probably need them in parallel, otherwise you're just pitching down first and pitching up afterwards, which gives you the same note you started with and you can't play it polyphonic anymore.
I think what I'd dig the most is three parallel fuzz circuits:
octave down fuzz
buzzz
buzzz octave up
Or maybe a clean octave down + clean blend in series into the buzzz and if you switch on the octave up on the buzzz that will be in parallel, is something like that possible?

people use to be so scared
"no way man, vicodin while blown rails"
"they CANCEL EACH OTHER OUT!!!!"
haha,i thought i was the smartest human on earth
i see what your sayin
but i don't think its a problem
i could be wrong though and its the tamest pedal on earth
but i use octave up/down at same time in stereo rig
I'm pretty sure even through one rig the ps6 harmonist works

Experimenting is always cool, it might bring something you can work with or not but yeah in parallel or stereo left / right the octave down and octave up sides will definitely work as they're usually intended was what I was getting at.
