Is ILF too cliquey? Are we pushing people away? BST question

Hey everyone. So, I've felt like for the past couple of years that new comers aren't really welcome here. I'm not sure if that's a me thing or if it's a consensus shared by others as well. What I've found disturbing is the way some of us push new members to the way side immediately when they do anything we do not like.
For instance, the BST area has been a huge target for us as a forum. We have members that have almost ONLY posted there. Some get flak and others get ignored. I'm not exactly sure what causes one or the other reaction to be honest. There are members here who have been members for years and years and almost exclusively have posted in BST since they became a member. Then there are folks who post elsewhere but not in the manner some would prefer. So, we hang the out to dry.
On ILF we don't have much moderation and we barely have any rules. I for one (and I know I'm not alone) would love to see the BST locked up to a post count requirement.
I'd also love to see us be less bitchy. I feel like people are constantly acting like we are some kind of high and mighty group when really we are just a bunch of fucking gear nerds. A lot of us are social outcasts and come here for like minded people (who are the same).
I love ILF but I for one feel like we need a big change in the general attitude. Myself included. What are your thoughts? On any level of this even if it's just about the BST area.

Gate BST.
Shun the unpure.
Stop buying ducking modules.

The answer is "YES".
Not everybody's gonna use ILF the same way. Show some tolerance!

Be the change you wish to see in the world, don't engage with new people in a bad way if you don't want to? Don't think I do but we're not (despite some people's opinions

) actually a hivemind.
To engage more fully. People who only use the bst... just don't give them sweet deals if you don't feel comfortable doing so. If they don't want to interact you don't have to interact.
Other controversies which you may or may not be referring to I shan't be drawn into

honestly, i haven't used BST in ages (because my board is pretty much settled) so i can't really speak to anything about that. i try to be welcoming to new folks, but i don't really interact that much other than subject-related stuff that i'm interested in so my impact is kind of limited. i love seeing new people, though, especially someone like ikibarishi (sp?) who brings in a perspective from way far away.

The inside jokes and overall meta-ness can be daunting to someone trying to figure out how to contribute... Some of the mega-threads can be tough to just jump into... But once you abandon all hope and expectations and jump into the abyss, most everyone seems to be (more or less) accepting.

BST has changed dramatically in the last two or three years. By extension people who have only been posting in BST for a period longer than that probably haven't contributed to its newly mercenary status as a place for people to look for deals in order to profit off those flips on Reverb.
Do you remember the Drone commander dude who listed the one he bought here like two days later for $300 profit or whatever it was?

I dunno, maybe. It's big enough that there can be cliques that never even see each other, I'd reckon. I don't use eurorack gear or shoegazey stuff, I haven't bought or sold much at all in the past year and I'm still on here like every day. Some people probably get driven away that could be good additions. Some got dragged away kicking and screaming that were a boil on the ass of ILF.
