Help! Latency issue

Guys, i can't seem to solve the problem of latency on my portable pc.

At this point i think the problem is processing power because the pc it's 8 years old now, but i could be totally wrong.

I use Ableton Live 9 and a Scarlett 2i2. Tried all kinds of buffer size settings but the closer i get is 98ms. I Tried to plug in the Boss Katana too, and use it to record directly from the USB, but had the same problem.

I am quite ignorant about using DAWs for recording, i always used Ableton to write things directly in it, and occasionally used to record things on my other PC without any problem, so there's a chance i'm doing something wrong.

Thanks!

Latency isn’t a show stopper , 98ms seems like a lot but it doesn’t matter , I’m pretty sure even in the best case scenario there’s always some latency.

1)You ought to be able to configure your DAW to monitor the input analog , latency free (this means you can’t process your incoming signal until after it’s recorded). It might be a setting in “Scarlett mix control”

2) figure out exactly what the latency amount is by sending a click track out and back into the input round trip. The you nudge the recordings so they match, use the difference so you can nudge every track you record

Thanks, just tried it and i solved the big part of the problem.
I set the recording tracks to compensate the latency after i measured it with the click track as you said, don't know why i never thought to do this before. I won't be able to use Ableton in a live situation, or to hear the actual sound while recording, but at least i monitor it directly and now i can record without any problem.
