Saw someone die once (or at least the circumstances which led to his death).
Not far from where my parents used to live is a (UK) Marine training camp. There was a time when they used to have a "Meet the Marines" day with all sorts of displays etc.
One year they had a rope slide which ran from behind some buildings onto the parade ground, and Marines slid down it in various ways.
The last one down came down on his front and as he passed above the parade ground he fell off*, landing head first (or at least that's how I remember it, it was 40 years or so ago) on the concrete. People rushed to help and an ambulance whisked him away, but he was dead either before or soon after he arrived at hospital.
*there appeared to be a safety tether to prevent him parting company with the rope, but if that's what it was, it didn't work.
That and Batman and Robin, because Men In Black had sold out.

Jesus that's horrible.
I was heading back to the office from work a couple of years ago when one of those big Boris-approved Routemasters cracked a woman in a powered wheelchair trying to cross a crosswalk head on. The seat detached and she (and the seat) went flying a good couple of meters. Awful sound. Luckily there were lots of people around (as it was around Hammersmith during lunch hour) so paramedics & an ambulance were called pretty quickly. Horrible to watch.

I always preferred His Hero Is Gone to Tragedy, but this thread isn't really about anything (aside from The Bosstones), so we can take it in any direction.

Sounds good, I don't feel like sharing and bumming people out... I know it's lame but their cover of Enter Sandman

I love it when bands with drummers that can drum cover McTallicA and while Motorheads version of the song rocks it's too accurate vs the MMBTs added flair

I feel like I might have missed a joke here
If so, I apologise for my horrific tale
To balance things up a little, I once sat at a road junction waiting for a motorbike approaching from my left to pass before I pulled out.
As I followed his progress across in front of me I was shocked to see him hit a car square on (which had pulled out from the other side of the road and stopped, blocking his path). The bike hit just behind the front wheel and buried itself in the side of the car.
The rider was launched into the air and, having described a perfect parabola, landed on his feet the other side of the car. He lifted up his visor while looking in amazement at the woman who he had just hit, while I sat and applauded him for surviving without a scratch and for a perfect dismount.

HELL YEAH.
Once I was driving behind a car who ran over a seagull. Not a human tragedy as such but it looked pretty gnarly. I also hit a deer once but it didn't go through the window and died instantly. I sat with it in the ditch as it took its last breath while looking at me.
