i find wikipedia infuriating - on the one hand, i'm addicted to it; going to it as a first stop for "knowledge" on all manner of subjects

on the other, i reguarly see all manner inexplicable, wrongheaded, inaccurate, purely opinion-based, puffery, flat-out-wrong and, yes, dopey, statements within its "pages"

[not to mention having had direct insurance of the Kafkaesque machinations of its gatekeepers and their snobbish and dunderheaded "reasoning" for blocking content while allowing stoopid shit and pure pranks to persist on their platform]

i'm gonna drop some of these in here from time to time

maybe you will too? :idk: :snax:

today's opening gambit is petty but sticks out like a sore thumb to a music nerd....

From the article on John McKay (Siouxsie & the Banshees guitarist):

"His guitars were a Hagström Semi Acoustic and a Gibson Les Paul. Mckay's effects included Fender Twin Reverb and MXR Flanger.[8] He played metallic guitar.[9]"

wat

I particularly appreciate the way they use citations to build the illusion of credibility, which only establishes that their sources are not as dumb as they are....

ok - see ya at the bottom of the post pile :p

Wikipedia is deeply weird. My favorite rando IG account: https://instagram.com/depthsofwikipedia ... =copy_link

This was the first post that caught my eye: https://www.instagram.com/p/CZuSsbQlRVz ... =copy_link The underlying article has map coordinates that you can zoom out from. If I did chronic, that could be a weekend.

from the wikipedia entry for Japanese television program "Fishing with John"
"Running time 30 minuets"

not sure what the standard time reference for a minuet is? my informal survey suggests that most minuets run from 1.5 to 4.5 minutes in length :idk:
