One stop shopping for bass and compressor knowledge. I'd recommend his Smoothie based on the sheer fact that motherfucker knows what the word is when it comes to bass compression, but it looks like it's out of stock.
Funny thing is I have also been meaning to ask about bass compressors. Because I play bass now.
WHich has been awesome! The first show was a blast and I'm looking forward to rocking with Khemmis on Friday. I was hoping to roll down with them to Portland for the Druden show but Ben says the van is full. Driving down has been talked about but we'll see. Anyway though Infinite Flux has been a fantastic experience so far. I love the songs and the dudes to begin with. And I found out on Saturday that working with them on stage is real cool and easy too. I feel like Ryder is particularly good at communicating the stuff I need in the moment and I was very comfortable on stage knowing that he probably wasn't going to let me miss any changes. To top off all the sweet interpersonal stuff this fucking Peavey Classic 400 is outta sight! My god what an amp. The jam room is so small I can't really hear it. The first note I struck at the venue put a massive grin on my face and now I want one for myself. But not as much as I want a jazz bass. The Fluxbass sounds great but I have physical comfort issues when playing it. I've had a sweeeet '64 reissue on layaway for a few months now but I'm a few more months away unless something weirdly awesome happens to happen.
I've only ever used compressors for guitar, none of them have ever sounded good on bass. They always end up sounding too chewy. That ovnilab site is solid, opinions on gear are subjective but that dude has a huge enough sampling of gear that it's useful for anyone.
I used to have a DOD Milkbox in the 90's, but I was a dummy and couldn't get it to work right. I would be interested in trying out a decent compressor for when I play clean, but I hardly ever do.

I know you've always had a good collection of dudes, but having someone else I know in real life really brings it to another level.
Plus I wanna see that bus.
Lets put together a Portland show. As is. I'm planning on driving down saturday if my back is cooperating.

Bongo/Onviguy is legitimately one of the only awesome things about talkbass that doesn't include dudes from ILF. Guy is rad as hell.
Also...i've been taking stock of all my gear, unused stuff that is just sitting around...i'm really considering a big purge of gear. For the most part the stuff i'm considering selling are all replaceable if i want to buy them again, so nothing really special there. I dont want the money for anything...yet...but its just a waste having all this stuff just sitting around not being used.

Ok refraining from asking you about all of those. I'm trying to assemble my amp/cab rig before looking at a second guit. Got something cooking that will hopefully turn out o)))k.
