insurance? Any other cars involved? I hope you're okay.

 Yea I'm ok, a little sore in my shoulder that was on the impact side. Mostly hurt pride and extreme sadness. Got tboned going through an intersection. Have you ever had airbags deployed on you? That shit is like mustard gas. My door was stuck shut and the ac was just bellowing this smoke into my face and eyes. Practically fell out the passenger side trying to gtfo.

Apparently it was my fault, but that's not what I thought until they were handing me the citation :grumpy: though that's being investigated. I had liability only so...starting from scratch on my end as far as a new vehicle goes. I'm really just super pissed that my awesome little truck is now a scrap pile...and that I had the ac and damage to my driver side door fixed like two weeks ago  oh and brand new tires.

Did I mention I got tboned less a year ago as well? I was a passenger in a friends car for that one. Did a 180 while being sent across 4 lanes, in a honda element. Dude blew a red light in a big ass Silverado.

My aunt found my grandmother laying in front of the TV this morning when she was over on her weekly visit.

She had been laying there passed out for the last 14-16 hours. Looks like she'll make a recovery, but what pisses me off is that me and my sister have asked my mother and aunt to put her in a home for the last 5 years because she has dementia and a shitty heart/high blood pressure. It's gotten to the point where she forgets to eat and take her medication. I know that it's hard putting your own parent in a home, but when that parent can no longer take care of themself and pretty much spends her days staring at a TV screen and not socializing and in that sense not stimulating her mind, there is simply no other good alternative. I hope this event shook some sense into the two of them. My sister and I have even found good private homes for her where we can come visit as often as we want. It will cost a pretty penny, but that's better than one of us coming over to visit only to find her dead on the floor. Fucking Russian roulette of trauma, that is.

That's tough. Or maybe hire someone (like a nurse, I think there are companies that do this) to just go there every day for like, an hour, to make sure she's eaten and taken her meds, and is taking care of herself in general, maybe clean up a little.

I can't bring myself to watch it. The thing that hurts the most is that the cop isn't going to get punished like he should, if at all, even with this incredible wave of police brutality going on.

Actually he's facing charges, murder charges and is facing life in prison. Hopefully he'll actually be proven guilty and this will just be the start of more oversight of our police.

Here's something I just copied from the Midnight Amplification sub-forum, deserves to be here too:

I'm bored and waiting for something so this is going to be a rant and more detail than anyone wants to read. It hits hard and with what I believe to be facts. I have seen too many people get burned out of money because they trusted the wrong builder. The extremely low barriers-to-entry for getting into the "pedal building business" means that these individuals don't have to know anything about organization, legal obligation, consumer rights, customer service or, contingency planning. All they have to do is hit high marks for a pedal in one (or more) of the following criteria (also including my feelings the one or more things it might say about a small builder in these parenthesis) - There are probably a million different ways to break this down, but it's my rant!

  • sounds good (good ear, electronic knowledge, lucky, can copy a good sounding circuit)
  • does something novel (creative, electronic knowledge, circuit design)
  • looks good (understands visual design, lucky)
  • is well constructed (mechanical skill, understands visual design, planning and resource management, well educated)
  • replaces a rare or comically expensive pedal (considered, dedicated, pragmatic, opportunistic )
  • right-tweak right-time. (lucky, creative, electronic knowledge)
  • the brand, pedals, or founder becomes 'cool' (honest, manipulative, lucky)
  • mojo parts (knows people, lucky, liar, fool)

Other industries have similar criteria, but because of scale and cost or competition, you may have to lick off more than 1 or 2 boxes AND possible things like capital materials management, business planning, capacity estimation, employee management, etc. (extreme examples: starting a car or plane manufacturer )

I'm not without compassion; but I'm also concerned with protecting myself.

Hi! Placed an order for a Sonic Violence on June 14th and I’ve not heard a word since. I figured it might be a bit due to location, but at this point it’s time to confirm that things are moving the right direction before more time passes.

Currently, I have moved house and will have your order out within the next 3-4 weeks if you are willing to wait.
If not, I am more than happy to refund you the full amount of your order.

Again, please accept my apology as these were circumstances beyond my control.

Kind Regards,

Hey Adam,

Not a problem - just a reminder that there is a build time of 2-4 weeks (reminder? first time I've heard it-ed) anyway. I don’t usually have any correspondence with my clients unless it’s for specific custom work.

As this has extended approximately 14 days past the build list time (where is this listed, why is he doing math for me?) -ed, please confirm that you would like a refund.

Again, please accept my apologies as this is the first chance I’ve had to reach a computer.

Thanks again,

Nic

My Summary
  • He made claims of fact regarding timing and polices I had not previously been informed of. As it turns out this information is on his about page (which I found via a google search after he mentioned it), but it wasn't in any path I was required to take to buy the thing and not in any of the outputs:

    1. learn about the product (ilovefuzz)
    2. look at all the product (general product page)
    3. look at specific product (Sonic Violence product page),
    4. ? purchasing or cart page ? (I can't recreate them without buying another)
    5. order confirmation page (nope)
    6. receipt from the web store (didn't get one)
    7. receipt from the paypal transaction (not here either)
  • seemed to be intentionally not using the 'official' paypal resolution channel to resolve situation. His response to my July 12th check-up question began AFTER my dispute was filed on the 17th (having given him a 5 day chance to respond IN ANY WAY after saying a word for longer than a month). This after sending emails, checking here (which raised my concern level) and using the contact me function of the website before doing anything. I try to give him the benefit of the doubt anyway and then
  • he totally ignores my request to move the communication to the correct path.

It felt weird so I choose to go the safe route; his additional string-along promises would have put me out of my paypal recourse window. I've pasted the exchange below, judge for yourself. There is almost nothing wrong with his

I think the wise man is steering clear of Midnight Amplification right now at the very least until regular public communication resumes.
  • The web store is still up - don't order
  • Request a refund if you have an outstanding item within the claim period (45 or 180 days) depending on jurisdiction
  • If you paid with credit card, you may have additional protections
  • It's his sub-forum, if he doesn't like this post, it he can take it down.
  • If that does that, it's a real sign of activity; if he doesn't, at least everyone is appropriately warned until such a time business returns to normal.
  • If this post disappears without comment, I will document it publicly elsewhere as a general warning for when people do searches.
  • I'm more then happy to clean up inaccuracies that might have slipped into this lengthy overworked post.

Based on the other problems people have reported, and how they have been handled, I expect a silent delete of this. I've been purchasing pedals on the internet from a variety of stores and small builders since 2005 and this is the first time I've had to open a claim for ANY of these hundreds of transactions.

I'm so lacking in motivation to actually do things I want to do. Like, I'm at the glass that people always break through, but instead my glass is a ton of reinforced steel girders. I really wish I had some sort of willpower or switch in my brain to punch through it, because as of now everything just sucks.

Ugh. My boss actually sat across from me in my appraisal yesterday and rubbed salt in the open wound about my study not working out due to my accident asking me, "so what are your plans now that that's gone pear shaped?"
Yeah. No idea. Cheers.

Last night I googled myself (yeah, I know), and the first thing that came up was this Norwegian DJ-something calling me a talentless idiot in a tweet from two years ago. The background is that I wrote an article about how rock music made by women still don't get the same exposure as rock music made by men. It was argueably badly written, and I'm afraid my point didn't come across, but it still kinda hurts that the first thing people will see if they search my name is someone basically calling me a hack - I've done a lot of reviews giving credit to underground Norwegian musicians both before and after said article, and would have hoped that those would be what would came up, not somebody bashing me behind my back two years ago. Not that it really matters, I don't think I get googled alot, but it still kinda sucks, and I can't stop thinking about it.

I actually googled your name when I found out that you wrote reviews and such. I also read said tweet and then your article. She (if I remember correctly) clearly didn't read the article the same way I did. Haters gonna hate.

Yeah, I mean regardless of the quality of my article, calling someone an idiot is pretty low. But I'm sorta afraid the article can be read like "Why aren't more women making rock music?" or "These poor gals needs my manly male support to be able to do anything" or whatever. Anyway, this was two years ago, so hopefully people aren't defining me by that one piece (if they're defining me at all). It just sucks that it's the first piece that appears when I'm googled. So... yeah, don't google me.
