Yeah they're typically harsher sounding and not as smooth to be super general about it.
For reference, I believe that the new(relatively speaking) Supercolliders with the mid knobs have the toggle switch setting on the V1 at 12:00.

Also, I need to have someone (Nick maybe?) build me a lead/mid boost + delay + reverb in one unit. I could sell a kidney and fund it, right?
Well I had a verb idea floating around but never really pushed it further than pcb layout and schematic on Eagle CAD
I have resisted doing any delays because there are so many good DIY kits from MadBeans. It doesnt make a ton of sense to try to out do those guys
Its certainly possible to make something like this in a big 1590BB kind of unit 3 stomps, 3 effects like 10 knobs or whatever it is.

This is how I felt about the Cthulhu Fuzz. It reminded me of a really tuned Supercollider. Don't need to tweak all those knobs because Nick got that motherfucker dialed in nice and proper for the fucking heavies. Nice and thick but can still bring the palm muted chugs.

Unf! 12 stages of phase gives me 12 stages of boner.
Also, I emailed Alan about the Amp on Fire recently and he said that by the time he's done with the circuit, it doesn't even esemble a muff anymore.
I thought that was interesting.
Just for everyone's information.

Gotta wonder how much of that is marketing speak, although I've never tried one and know nothing about circuits in the builder's sense so I can't say yay or nay for sure.

Re: The Doom Room: ILF Edition
It was in response to a thread we had about reviving the pedal or, seeing as at that point we thought it was as simple as taking any old muff and mucking with the guts a bit, releasing the mods.
I mean it could be Alan protecting his product/business and that's totally fine but I got the impression that he didn't have a huge problem releasing those details as he was too busy with other things to do a run of Amp on Fires at this point in time. But he was basically saying it goes way beyond a few tweaks. Probably not DIY friendly.

It's a high gain Fuzz Face style circuit. I believe there's a piece of an overdrive on the front end of something, I'm sure Nick will pop up and give all the technical details. I never could get a FF to work well with bass ever before I had the Cthulhu. Sounds great on guitar, just a little tighter and more focused than a typical Fuzz Face.

Yeah because we totally have no one else who would be down.
I mean whatever it's his baby he can do what he wants.

Also fuzzface based but its got a little more circuitry then just the base fuzzface design.
Other than the Ge PNP based versions I believe over time I will convert all 1 knob Si Cthulhus to the 1 knob Fuzz circuit (1 knob FuzzThrone) it is much better than the original CF.

Yeah. We exchanged a few emails and he made it clear that that was the case. He wasn't precious about it, nor was he a dick but he just made it clear that he wasn't really ready to make it available for DIY/cloning purposes.
I really dig the clarity on the One Knob Dunwich. Still lots of heavy on tap, but nice definition.

Can we have an ILF ILD meetup in Phoenix late October / early November. You guys can take me to places that don't suck.
I actually have the last week of October off so fuck yes. I hope you like tequila.
I like it alright. I will be working while there so not sure how wild I can truly get but tequila and beer can happen.
