Look, we can unite in the fact that although most colonial forces were pretty terrible at least we weren't the Dutch... or the Portuguese... or the Japanese. We did ok alright!

No, I haven't been to the dentist since 1984. I don't want them fucking cruel bastards anywhere near me. I'm convinced dentists are trained at the Gulag.

You're right. Tooth aches, cavities, discoloration and deposit are far better than an appointment a year. :poke:

I still have a splint behind my upper teeth. Thanks to excellent and affordable (if not free) professional care, I have perfectly aligned teeth. More than a perfect smile, it's a massive amount of pain that I'm not gonna have to endure as I get older.

French fun fact #679: did you know that the French health care system has been ranking #1 consistently in the World Health Organization comparative study? Then it's Italy, Spain, Austria and Japan. Norway is the first in Northern Europe ranking 11th. Cuba is the first in Latin, Central and Northern America ranking 22nd. 'MURICA is down at 37th, neighbouring Costa Rica and Slovenia.
French fun fact #680: the French health system is the cheapest per capita in the European Union.
French fun fact #681: France is the only country in which you can receive the same medical care wether or not you have the nationality, and wether or not you're here legally when you don't. Microbes are the true universalist, they don't care how you cross borders and if your visa is expired.

Fuck, last week, I had a doctor come to my place at 10 at night because my big toe hurt after my run. Subtracting everything that was taken care off by Social security, IT COST ME LESS THAN A FUCKING BIG MAC for a night house call and a box of meds.

TELL ME COMMUNISM ISN'T WORTH IT.

Excuse me for this moment of patriotic pride. Lately, there hasn't been much to be proud of as a French citizen.

Ok but what are you going to do about all those refugees?

Damn, it could possibly be feasible to by a ticket to France and get some kind of treatment and it would be cheaper than doing the same shit in murica?

Yep. Provided you can stay for as long as you need treatment and there's some kind of medical necessity to treat you right now.

EG, Boob reduction is covered by the system if you need it for medical reasons (back hurting etc...), but if you come here, you might not get treatment because you can "live" without it. If you have tuberculosis, the flu, a broken arm or even cancer you're golden. The French commies will pay for it. If your treatment is long, and you can be transported without medical risk or public health risk, you can be deported though.

It's becoming a problem with the expansion of poverty and misery in the EU and in countries close to the EU. Some people from Ukraine, Azerbaijan, Georgia etc... where the tuberculosis is back and they can't get treatment will travel here illegally (it's pretty easy once you get inside the EU) on a train or bus, risking to contaminate others. Note that it's only the latter I mind. I think humans are precious, and I'd rather have an unbalanced budget than a dead person on my conscience.

It's also a problem with professional sports player who come here to get their knees and ankles fixed and leave without paying nothing, because ya know when you make millions, you're not gonna leave some for the hard working commies that paid for you to continue to make millions.

It's actually also a condition to get the French nationality (Code of Entry and Residence of Foreigners, L-311-11 11°). If you can prove that the best method of treatment available here, or one that's close enough, isn't available (however pricey that is) in any of the countries you can legally be deported to and not receiving treatment could have serious consequences on your general health, the administration is required to grant you a medical visa for 4 years, renewable for 4 years. You can become a French citizen as long as you prove your main affective and economic interests are here and you've been integrated (usually, it requires residence for 3 to 5 years, making friends, finding a job, paying taxes, putting your kids through school, keeping a clean criminal record etc...), but it's a good way to start.

I always get sick when I take vacation time. I guess it's convenient that it doesn't fuck with work as much, but what a disappointing waste of a day off.

Lame ^^^ Rest real hard one day so you can party the rest?

My schedule is getting so tight with me trying to fit in my gym time, art, music, friends, and work. I have to keep juggling hang out time and do my best not to feel guilt-tripped into anything, or guilty when I bail on them so I can make any sort of progress with my interests.... 40 hours a week is too much. With all the technology we have, why the hell are we all working so much? People have said "if we automate more and more jobs, then we won't have any jobs..." My response, is "yeah, so what?" Seriously, let's make robots to do more shit. Why don't we have robots to make life easier? Because of money. Why don't we have a "Star Trek culture" where there's no money, and technology gives us the resources we need so that we are free to pursue our passions? Because of money. I'm tired of needing money to do anything, barely having enough to do the few things I do, and hoping desperately that my car doesn't get fucked up, because I have no way of paying for it if it does.

Well I woke up this morning to one of my cats, Britta, dead on the floor. I knew something was up when I didn't wake up next to her this morning even though she was her cheery, cuddly self last night. I'm just in absolute shambles right now, she was my best friend and I failed her.

Goodbye Britta, you were the purest thing I'd ever encountered in this world and probably ever will.
