...I can say with 100% certainty that doing a karaoke rendition of Bowies "Modern Love" at a party on a cruise ship in the summer of 2005 earned me a week in bed with the most beautiful person I've ever met and likely ever will meet. Though we talked afterwards and made plans and promises, we ultimately never saw each other in person ever again.

It was only a week but the hole it left absolutely ripped my heart out and changed me irreversibly. It was most definitely the most painful thing ive ever experienced and id give anything to take it back but it proved that, to me, love is real and that i am certainly capable of it.
So there you go. Im not sure whether to mourn Bowie or piss on his grave.

Damn.

listening again Blackstar (the song) still strikes me as 10 minutes of Bowie Does Radiohead Does Bowie Does Radiohead, but Blackstar (the record) is fucking rad.

either way, he gave you a gift in a way.
pain is the center of all true expression anyways.
especially comedy.

yeah I'm sure it will have to grow on me, but it's weird and definitely progressive for his last album

I'm pretty fucked up about it. Cried a few times today, probably will some more... I'm really not sure a musician's death has ever affected me this much.

When I was a little kid, he was one of the first musicians I noticed on TV. He had such a charm about him... probably my introduction to the concept of swagger. God, he had it in spades.

He was there then and before, and continued to always reappear, doing something new and worth talking about every few years. I knew the day would come that we wouldn't have that to look forward to anymore, but I can't believe it now that it's finally happened. Thank you, sir. Your impact on me has been immeasurable.

I mean really. Only bowie and jim henson could create such an touching audio/visual presentation about the love between an old ass man with a codpiece and a drugged 16 year old girl.

Completely and utterly gutted. I would never have picked up a guitar if it weren't for my steady diet of all things Bowie growing up. I doubt most of the great artists we love would even be half as good if it weren't for his influence. Play his music LOUD today and rock on in his memory.

It's so fucked up. Playing a big deep cuts Bowie cover set this Thursday that we've been preparing for about 2 weeks. Feels like we've been sending him off this whole time.

Exactly this.

He seemed incapable of dying to me. Just larger than life and death. :idk:

After reviewing the records, I've concluded that Lodger is my favorite. Following that rabbit hole, I find:
