After reviewing the records, I've concluded that Lodger is my favorite. Following that rabbit hole, I find:

It'd be utterly impossible for me to pick one. Lodger is definitely one of the best though. But then again Scary Monsters, then again Low, Hunky Dory, Heroes. No way I could ever choose--there are just too many distinctly different periods, makes it so hard to compare.

I think I could hone in though and say that the Berlin/Eno/Fripp/Visconti zone is my fave. I feel like that's kinda stating the obvious though. Seems to be the most universally lauded era.

his 2013 album is pretty great too. Wish I'd listened to it earlier.

That might actually be my favorite so far.

Hunky Dory/Ziggy/Aladdin Sane is one of, if not the greatest 3 album streak in history.

That might make an interesting thread in the Music forum....best 3 album streak.

There's a really great episode of Sound Opinions about "musical grand slams." Great listen. Not sure if you can still listen to the audio, but they have the albums listed on the episode page:

I was very much taken by it myself. Haven't brought myself to listen to the final album yet. I feel like I need to be mentally prepared for it, haha. Could get heavy.

Same. And ironically I felt like this even before he died.

Yeah Lodger and Low are both fucking amazing.

Also haven't done Blackstar because when it came out I was like, "do I have time to give a new Bowie record the %100 dedication and attention it deserves?"
The answer was no, but I'm gonna have to clear my schedule soon and do it. I've heard bits and they blew me away but I want to sit down and attempt to digest the whole thing.
Which is impossible in one sitting with any halfway decent record, let alone one by David Bowie.

So I wanted to ask for those that have Facebook. Has anyone else had their "friends" talking badly about Bowie's death? I have a friend (I've known the guy since 7th grade) and he said something along the lines of "Bowie is not a hero and never did anything for this country so who gives a fuck that he died of cancer". It was worse than that, but it irritated me so much I deleted his ass. I just don't get that. Like what is wrong with mourning a death? People make me fucking sick sometimes.

Whaaaaat that's nuts, man. The worst (but most hilarious) thing I saw on FB in relation to Bowie's death was this:

That's the easiest answer, yeah.

Lee Ranaldo posthumously called him "A Radical Adult", best assessment I've heard of him in a while.
