Now I need something new to play. Hmmmm.

What system do you play on?
If PC, Hyperlight Drifter (which I've read is the opposite of easy) was released today :poke:

Bought it and downloaded it while I was at home for lunch. Now I have to sit through the rest of the work day yearning to play it

I thought the same thing.......spent 2 weeks researching and cultivating a build (mostly just copied from reddit pcmasterracce), and it was super easy to assembly and get running. Watched a couple youtube assembly vids and done. I was nervous about screwing something up, but I took my time and it all worked out.

They aren't kidding when they same modern pc components are like legos. It's so simple now, I regret choosing a PS4 over PC 6 months ago.
I don't have anything against consoles. so enjoy the one yer with. :)

Well, putting a big-ass cooler on an expensive CPU can be a stressful experience :animal:.
I've got both a PS4 and a quite high-spec PC (for game dev mostly, actually better than my work PC :) ) and I don't regret getting the PS4 at all. I use it more than the PC for gaming, actually...

I've been using my PS4 more recently after years and years of PC gaming. I don't personally feel driven to aquiring those Ultra high end graphics anymore and also Steam really isn't great for Aussies. I kind of regained my interest in video games the past year since getting a PS4, likely it's only because I'm just playing games in a slightly different way. The same way that I was primarily playing games on my Vita and 3DS a year before that.

PC is brilliant because you can play the games that don't work well on any other platform; like cRPGs, MMOs and RTS. Though ironically, those are the game that extremely easy to run and aren't exactly pretty games. I don't think that there's anything wrong with Console hardware, I think that there's just too much pressure to over produce games to the point where the games can't run properly because they found it necessary to render hair in such an OTP way. When games from 2012 can be played on low settings on a Surface Pro 2 and games like Rocket League, Metal Gear Solid V, Resident Evil HD and Gravity Rush all look beautiful and run a standard 1080p/60fps - there has to be a way where games aren't so skewed.

it's cheaper to buy most AAA games physically than on steam here, so silly.

i'm learning 3D modeling/animation now and the amount of detail that's expected is pretty fucking nuts, i kinda wish it'd all just slow down.. graphics have rarely bothered me at all with anything made in the last decade or so, even 1080p feels like a lot to take in sometimes..

ps4/xb1 are fiiiine, and totally inexpensive compared to building a PC if you're happy with the game selection. consoles are simple in a way that PC's may never be, so i think it's nicer to respect their differences and use each for what they're good at. i use only use handhelds and a laptop because i need portability but the second i move somewhere long term i'm getting PS4 (hopefully when Persona 5 is out :joy: )

nintendo, on the other hand....

This finally came in the mail:

The Cassette does work, but it also comes with the CD. Fuck yeah, blind fanboy consumerism.

Hyper Light Drifter is the punishing combination of darksouls and Diablo/zelda that I always wanted. Holy shit.

I just could never get used to gaming with a keyboard. Believe me I've tried in the past. I've played a ton of PC games, but not in a long, long time. Plus I don't really have the mean at the moment to build a gaming machine. :( In time maybe! Give me a controller and I'd be fine though.

I only really use my PS4 for exclusives (Bloodborne, Last of US) and multiplayer games like FIFA. Otherwise I like tricking out my computer setup almost as much as my pedal board. Running an overclocked GTX980 Ti so I can run any game out there pretty much on max at 1440p resolution and over 60 FPS and it's glorious but not revolutionary. Playing games like FIFA though it''s now immediately apparent how choppy it is locked at 30 fps. My roommate has the PC version and even though they gimp it, it plays so much smoother.

Another strong argument for PS4/Xbone and physical games in the US is that Amazon Prime 20% discount on preorders. Actually makes preordering worth it if you're fairly confident you'll like the game. Not a lot of PC options because Steam but I did get $30 off the DOOM collectors edition. Also preordered The Last Guardian.

I like keyboards for some FPS games but it's as easy as plugging your controller in to a USB port, I use an Xbox One controller for most games.

And yes, Hyper Light Drifter is looking like tons of fun, I'm only a half hour in though.

I do dislike that the whole "pcmasterrace" thing. started as a joke, but is now serious. We're all gamers, and shouldn't subdivide our wants and needs so much. PS4 vs XB1 is counterproductive too.
Console exclusivity, PC exclusivity......that all sucks for gamers.
I don't get why people get so mad about what people use to game on? It's no one's business what another person chooses to spend their money on and what they enjoy.

I still have my PS4, but am going to sell it. I can't justify using it for netflix/hulu only.

PC is a lot less hassle than I was led to believe too. I'm a bit older and was around when computer started to come into homes. At that time, dealing with a PC seemed like you needed a degree.
Things are so easy and intuitive now. If you don't know something, the internet will tell you.
I thought I'd be dicking around with components, and settings all the time. Once it's set up, I haven't really spent any time doing things I don't want to.
I did mod some game files to improve the experience....which is kinda sweet.

I also agree with you all, while I do enjoy high quality graphics, I have no problem sacrificing some of that for a great game that is fun to play.
Hell, I mostly play old games anyway. lol It's most of the reason I went to PC. not for graphics, framerate or anything else. I just want to play the games I like all in one package and I don't want to have to repurchase games if I upgrade.

This is actually pretty useful for troubleshooting crashes in games too. Have had a few games here and there that crashed consistently and just went to Steam support, followed the guide and fixed the game. No waiting for the devs being gracious enough to give you a patch. Had that problem with Hyper Light yesterday and fixed it in 2 minutes.

Or take games like FO4 where you can use console commands when you're character gets stuck (power armor and terminals do not mix). It's pretty handy having more control, over your games.

you can use controllers with a PC easily, you can actually use any controller you want with the right adapter (gamecube, ps3, xbox, n64, whatever)

this is a big reason why I game on PC, I bought my computer 4 years ago and it can play any game I want to play, I mostly play older games cause the new ones suck.

with gaming console you can only play games, but a PC can do music, video editing, browsing the internet, or anything you want. PC is freedom, console games are generally a money grab these days, pretty games that are really fucking boring or too easy, but I guess I'm more hardcore than most gamers/people.

I'm a little late to the party but Hyperlight looks fucking amazing. The retro bit games aren't usually my thing but this looks modernized in the right way
