I'm really trying to decide if I should buy one of these or not. Do you like it?behndy wrote:i mean.... technically a synth? are grooveboxes pimp enough for this thread?
YOU GUYS HAVE THE AMAZING LOOTS.
love the og Electribe so much. spent WAY all the time inside that little buggerer. the EM1? yeshhhhhh.
wanted to get back into hardware and a new take that looks similar to the one i lurved seemed like a good choice?
Edit: realized after the fact that this is a sampler and I was interested in the synth version. Tell me what you like about it anyway!

Yeah, this is a wondrous setup! I'd settle for just the Octatrack.repoman wrote:

Tahnks
The Octatrack is..slow going. I've had it for about 2 weeks I guess and feel like achievement unlock is at 0002/1000. Seems a lot more complicated than the MD and MNM I had a couple years ago.

murf. been busy the last two days, i have time today to finish settting up my desk. need to update the firmware on Electribbles and start the laborious process of chopping up all the drum hits i want to drop into it.
unless someone knows a quicker way to export hits from Battery? OLD versions save them as wavs in a folder, newer versions have a NI specific bundle file. dunno how to extract files to normal audio formats.
i just do a track in Cubase with hit after hit, export that as one long audio file, cut it up into all the tiny files in Soundforge...... is there a quicker way?

Nice, I had read about that but didn't have a chance to actually google it. I can sample with it and use it as a sequencer but all the little nooks and crannies of the depths of whats possible with the parameter locks is going to take a long time. The arrangements of banks, triggers, parts, tracks/slots, etc. is a lot of stuff!
The thing I liked about the MD and MNM was they were really powerful, but you could still sense the box or limitations they were in, which gave you something to kind of push against and you'd wind up coming up with weird methods of doing things (which led to weird interesting sounds, arrangements) which is what made them so much fun, the octatrack seems a lot bigger in this sense.

I fucking loved that movie when I was a little kid. Still have the pirated VHS somewhere at my parents' house, I think.
