It does get quite a bit repetitive after a while, and once you reach a certain level, there's not much challenge. Still, nice game but very uneven.
You were right. I think I did some things out of order, so I just end up wandering the maze of very similar looking areas for ages, mowing through dudes that pose no challenge. This game desperately needs a map. Not sure if I can be bothered enough to finish.

Hopefully Death's Gambit does the 2D Dark Souls thing better.

Yeah, I still don't regret buying Salt & Sanctuary but it was a bit too uneven. If they managed to keep the balance for the whole game it would have been great. Also, the platforming moments were a huge pain in the ass because the controls are not reactive enough for this I think. If they make a second game similar to this one but fixing the most obvious issues it could be excellent.

I've re-launched Dark Souls 3 in preparation for the first DLC. My character is maybe a bit too powerful now for this DLC but I don't have time to make a new one...

D.o.S. : that was a reasonable assumption but sadly not a correct one :(. I need to work on this a bit more, especially the reading part. I can survive in an all-Japanese team, I did that at Bandai Namco for example, but I'm definitely more efficient when I can communicate in English (French is even sometimes an option). Well, at least it's slowly getting better so I have that going for me ;).

Looks like I may be acquiring an old Nintendo 64 along with Mario Kart, Mario 64, and Zelda: Ocarina of Time. All in trade for one of my DL4s. This is great since the wife and I were just reminiscing about the 64 and Gamecube days of playing Mario Party, Mario Kart, Goldeneye, Smash Bros, etc... The four controllers did wonders for entertaining evenings a long time ago, and we were thinking our kids might really enjoy them now as well. Already calculating how to purchase Smash Bros, Mario Party 2 and 3, Goldeneye and Bomberman. Some of these carts are fetching a heavy price these days. I have to stop and wonder if going old school is worth it instead of investing into something like a WiiU and buying these games digitally. What say ye? Also, how bad does the 64 look on an HD TV?

It looks pretty blurry and the pixelation on 2D stuff is funny as hell , but you get used to. :thumb:

Wii U has emulators of the biggest selling games, but it's mostly single player games.

Luigi for battle, Yoshi for racing. Win all the Karts.

Mario Kart 64, Bomberman 64, Smash Bros, Perfect Dark - absolute multiplayer perfection.

no lies -- gamecube was hands down the most fun with that multiplayer shit. smash and mario kart where unfuckwithable. we played halo but that was like, "oh this was just released let's play" and by the time a few months later hit we were back on that mario kart steez.

Yeah, Gamecube was awesome. I think Melee and Double Dash were the best in their respective series. Had a great time with Mario Sunshine and Luigi's Mansion despite the critics. The first Metroid Prime and first Pikmin were excellent at the time too. Mario Party 2 and 3 were better than the part 4 on the Gamecube though. Our substitute for Goldeneye/Perfect Dark on the Gamecube was Timesplitters 2, and I made so many maps including our apartment complex. So much fun with those Nintendo consoles, good friends, bong rips, some beers, etc... Set Smash Bros for a 99 life elimination match or Mario Party for 50 rounds and your night was set.

I absolutely love playing my N64 still. My girlfriend and I actually own 2 N64s and 5 or 6 controllers + Mario Party 3, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, Super Mario 64, Zelda Majora's Mask, and Harvest Moon. The N64 is still by far the best gaming experience to me, even on a 50" HDTV.

I really want to pick up 007, Mario Party 1 & 2, Ocarina of Time, and a couple of random N64 games that I grew up with like Vigilante 8 2nd Offence, Quake 64, Star Wars Rogue Squadron, Blast Corps (I just watched a video of this and I'm so fucking confused as to why I ever liked this game), and Rampage 64 (I think I may have had a thing for breaking shit as a kid).

Also, absolutely major sacrilege, but I have never played a Zelda game. I even own Majora's Mask and I've still never played one.

I still have my Ocarina of Time gold cartridge stuffed in a dresser somewhere (along with Chrono Trigger - my last 2 childhood remnants).

Haven't played a Call of Duty game since 4, bought Advanced Warfare for $10 - which is the most I would've liked to spend.

No one wants to remember Kirby Air Ride, such an underrated party game.

Prepping for Dark Souls 3 dlc. It feels like getting better at Dark Souls 1 has made me worse at 3.

Finally beat the old hunters and vanilla bloodborne. The chalice dungeons are nonsense so I'm going back to witcher 3
