bad reboot movies are always a great laugh when i'm in a funk, which is often. the cringe just makes me laugh my depressed little face off.

I missed a week, I just saw this thread when it got bumped. There is a lot of good advice already, I can't think of much to add, other than to remind you to keep your chin up. I've lurked here long enough to know you're a great guy, jwar, so remind yourself that people like you, care about you, and even love you for good reasons. In the evenings, I try to focus on one thing that happened during the day that brought me some happiness, no matter how small, and not let anything negative become an obsession. But yeah, I too suffer from depression (and anxiety and OCD), so I understand how problems can seem overwhelming, and sometimes they really are. But even when worse comes to worst, you just have to pick yourself up and keep moving forward. Hang in there, man!

I'm barely even functional at the moment lol - so it's a bit hard to give advice :P

Don't put too much pressure on yourself re: achieving your goals. Stay proactive but also try and be mindful that stressing about it is counterproductive. As long as you're moving forward, just keep a steady pace that works for you. Being hard on yourself may be unavoidable at times, but try to keep reminding yourself that it serves no purpose (although maybe that makes it even worse lol). If you're moving in the right direction, you're doing what you need to be doing - do your best to let yourself be happy about that, because you absolutely deserve it. This "life" shit aint easy. So if you're getting up every day and participating in it, you should be goddamn proud of yourself.

Also, don't underestimate the power of routine. Especially if you're finding yourself overwhelmed with lethargy or anxiety. For someone who's depressed, basic tasks can be next to impossible to do. But once you get into a routine, it can become effortless and sometimes even meditative.

Not much to add. Depression sucks. People who've never experienced it truly don't understand. Stuff like "what do you have to be sad about?"
the post above mine actually is relative to what I was gonna say though. Do some push-ups every day when you wake up and before bed. Make it a routine. Even if you do just 10, make sure you always do it especially when you don't feel like it. It forces you out of bed and it's productive. Gets your heart going. Makes you stronger. Easy way to boost your confidence. Little things like that I find tend to make a difference and it's not going to take more than a minute to do. Just my thoughts, I obviously don't know you and mental health tips are far from universal

But apply that to something else, find a routine.
Oh that's bad ass! As I said, I obviously don't know him and kinda skimmed most the thread lol

Follow the Heart. Fuck the brain and the way it thinks of the future. Look into your children's eyes and sense this from them. They know all. Also be happy they are fed everyday and know that a lot of people in this world have to hear the cries of there children's hunger. And know you can feed them and there loved. They want your happiness. That's what makes them happy. Fuck all else.

I've been avoiding this thread because I've been in a bad place of my own for the last month or so.

That said, you're a good guy and you've got a friend in me. It sounds like you've got a good plan, and if I had any advice I'd say stick to it. I'm good at making plans and bad at sticking with them long enough for them to pay off. You've got a good, recognizable name, and good industry connections. I think you'll do well as long as you stick to your plans.

Also, I've been thinking about getting my minilogue etched for a while now....

You're an entrepreneur and you have a strong will. You own and maintain properties and you have an income. That's hard. Maybe you need help and I hope that me saying this helps.

How did you initially find out or suspect that you have depression? I have a family history which is why I ask.

You guys are all rock stars and I seriously love you dudes to death!!

Things are looking up. I'm getting out of my funk, so to speak. My horrible situation with my partner is working itself out (I have a lawyer bill to pay now...but that's a different issue). I'm moving forward with working on releasing a pedal I wanted to over a year ago (info on that if/when it materializes). I'm going to be buying a new laser machine. Yes you heard right. Plus, I'm planning on getting around 10 new properties this year. So I think things are going to be ok. I have a lot coming up that will be on my plate. Less idle time, will make me happy and make me feel like I'm contributing.
