Yeah the midwesternness is severe tonight. Sounds like someone rattling miles of aluminum sheeting outside.
And IP: we should send STRAYANS when we finally get to do some extraterrestrial exploration. Unflappable.

Yeah, due to my time living Texas I've developed an automatic reaction to long lasting rumbling in the form of crippling fear and a desire to dive into the basement or under a desk.
Even though it's mostly just wind and thunder, I'm still freaking out internally, awaiting my impending demise from the cloud of pure death and hatred.

jr: that fuckin sucks man.
I get migraines from the weather here sometimes, but that sounds terrible man.
Good luck, hope you get some relief soon.
Personally, I'm all about celestial travel. But we need to solve the hyperspace/hypersleep dilemma first.
I kinda feel like bongs are the answer to both parts of that equation.

We should send some really racist ones so they get to experience what it's like being an uninvited party in a foreign place, arriving on a vessel that may or may not be able to make a return journey.Invisible Man wrote:And IP: we should send STRAYANS when we finally get to do some extraterrestrial exploration. Which is, of course, a concise history of white people in AUS (even more so than it is a history of white people in the US).

Im not sure if youre aware of our current "illegal immigration crisis", but if you want a very unfunny lesson in irony and hypocrisy, i suggest you google "boat people in australia".
I have already commenced cringing in shame.

You guys are currently tied or winning the race for being global dickbags with regard to immigration.

Yeah I've always thought we had some real bonds in the racism/immigration/abuse of native peoples departmentsInvisible Man wrote:You guys are currently tied or winning the race for being global dickbags with regard to immigration.

Dude I haven't forgotten about your thesis...I will read it and write back. But I have a bunch of inane bullshit (life?) that is knocking on my door, and a couple advance copies of novels I have to get back to their authors (BRAG) under a deadline. But I feel a twinge of guilt every time I see a post from you, so that should count for something.
Anyway I will read it, decode it, and solve your problems with my wisdom and intelligence. Also I interviewed a PhD candidate from a reputable Econ department and he was a horrifying moron. YOU CAN DO IT

What is the polite way to tell someone "I know you mean well but there's a reason no one is directly answerable to you and it's because all of your suggestions carry a not insignificant scent of condescension, 'have you tried this remedial suggestion', and micromanaging that twists into a lovely bow of 'I am not convinced you know how to do your job'?"

Think that right there would work. You'd probably lose them halfway through.

Had my annual physical last week and they told me they'd only call me to come in if something was wrong. So they called today and want me to come in tomorrow. Now I get to spend the next 24 hours worrying. This rules.

I think that's about as good as it's going to get without watering down the message. I would rate it a 9 on the Politeness Given the Circumstances scale.D.o.S. wrote:What is the polite way to tell someone "I know you mean well but there's a reason no one is directly answerable to you and it's because all of your suggestions carry a not insignificant scent of condescension, 'have you tried this remedial suggestion', and micromanaging that twists into a lovely bow of 'I am not convinced you know how to do your job'?"
