That's gotta be the name of the album (or at least the studio where it was recorded). :snax:

Broadcast is running on 24v off the cioks dc5. I'm much happier with (mostly) one row of pedals vs two rows on the PTjr. I don't miss the incline, and it makes the flatter metro seem a lot neater even though it's slightly bigger. I guess the key is having the super slim cioks power supply that fits underneath the flat board.

Also, when I type "metro" I always add "-id" to the end because I've got metroid on the mind I guess

Bondi 2026 comp en route. I so want it to end my miserable string of experiences with pedal comps. Roll them dice.

Which comp pedals have you tried? It took like a half dozen tries to find the right one for my rig.
CS-3, Dyna, MXR Super Comp; Custom Comp, White Finger XO, Jangle Box v1, Effectrode PC-2A. Whew!
Do you know more now about what you want in a comp pedal than when you first started using one? Think about a few questions...
What do you want the comp pedal to do, a brief summation?
What do you want it for- mostly cleans? Drive tones? Stacking both? Without a lot of setting searching between switching?
How important is the bottom end in your sound? Which instrument do you intend to use with the comp?

My big thing is that I want it mostly for cleans. I want more sustain in my clean tone, but I also want to tame transients etc while I'm singing and playing, smoothing things out a bit. A comp is really one of the most practical needs I've come across in terms of pedals, but I've had a shit time finding one I've liked. My main thing is that I despise the pumping/plinky sound... I do like it to be really over the top occasionally (like with an Orange Squeezer), but I wouldn't use that sound too much. I've had an EQD Warden (sounded pretty good, but made my tone feel a bit lifeless), an Analogman BiComp (too pumpy, though I liked the Juicer side as I mentioned), a Cali76 TX, and a Cali76 Compact Deluxe. I've sold them all.

My problem is that I love compressors, but specifically the studio kind—it makes perfect sense that a pedal that costs a couple hundred bucks doesn't come close to a studio comp, which is usually $1500 to get in the ballpark. The Cali claimed to have gotten there in the 1176 realm, but to me it still just didn't do it.

I'm gonna try the Bondi because from what I gather, it can give me the things i want (sustain, transient taming) without being too noticeable. Plus the auto mode seems really appealing. We'll see! I know I can flip it easily if it doesn't work for me. Fingers crossed, though.

Amigo. Bide your time for a secondhand Effectrode at about $250 or so...or if comp is really that practical to your needs then get one new. If it isn't for you you'll easily be able to move it along for a minor loss [comparatively], but I have a hunch you'll keep it. Your answers [to those questions] are similar to my own. Sustain & transient taming without pumping or noise is exactly what I wanted; also for boost/attenuation. Primary use for me is with clean bass guitar but also with Ruetz Rat. Also samplers/synths/guitar/vocals. It delivers again and again; had mine 5 years now. 12v 350mA; most Cioks psu can handle it no sweat, I suspect others like Strymon & Yankee will have no prob as well.

Man, I will definitely check that one out again... I have played it before and was definitely impressed. I think the main thing that deterred me was that it's based on an LA2A (right?), so I think my brain thought it was maybe a little too gooey. Could have totally been playing tricks on me based on association, though :D

I love Effectrode's stuff—I have their tube Univibe and have enjoyed the shit out of it, despite it being pretty large. Slow swirls for days.
