I've noticed a big shift in BST in the past year or two, but I just attributed that to my own shift in gear. I'm not trying out and flipping as many hawt pedals so a lot of the magic is now lost on me.

I see advantages of both styles of BST. Part of my joining was wanting to buy stuff, and because I didn't get the jokes flying around I didn't post much. It would have taken ages to actually make purchases. Now my favorite part is trading, and I'm not really down to trade with someone with no posts.

I see one option to help alleviate the BST problem, although this admittedly doesn't directly address the issue. I'm totally willing to just loan out gear if someone wants to try it out and pays shipping. I might just make that thread, see what happens. Then there could be like a 500 post count minimum just so there is a little more reassurance that someone won't disappear with your pedal. Probably have some loose restrictions like expect to return the pedal in a month or something like that.

I don't know if I've been around here long enough to form an opinion.
And I've only used B/S/T once.

But perhaps the testiness comes in that thread more so because moneys
and egos and Ego+ and lifestyle evaluations are involved? I've never been
a flipper. But I can see wanting to get the most out of a pedal sale and
also to pay the least in a pedal purchase. Aren't we all like that?

And although it's about "what the market will bear" it's also good to
keep in mind that people, for the most part, are unbearable.

I don't know, the people on here are for the most part what keeps me around. I go through periods where I'm not doing any music (like a month or two) either because of time constraints or just not being in the mood, but I still come on here for the humans.

I remember because I was the one who sold it to him.

He seemed so stoked. "I've been looking for one forever" etc, so I thought "sure, I'll give this 0 posts dude the ILF price". Fool me once.

I haven't really had any items worth shipping abroad for a while now, but I've began trying to sell stuff locally before posting them in BST, which is a shame. I don't want to have to have two prices in my ads, nor do I want to sell to flippers for buddy prices. I'd love to see a post count limit for BST, personally, but it's not like I can't sleep at night because there is none.

I just looked and its been 4 years since I started posting. Dang. People were super cool and welcoming to me. To this day I get insightful answers to all my dumb questions. This place rules. You people fucking rule.

Seems the *inclusivity* *discussion* has arrived here on ILF.
I haven't B/S/T too much in the past 2-3 years, yet I too have noticed the shift since the BitQuest & mtl.asm pedals spiked in popularity.

This week I posted an exclusive "lot" listing in BST, full of vintages for about 50% below market value in hopes a regular/contributor would score so I can score too.
Regs complimentary bump-post about the dream offering, but PMs are unfamiliar, noobs, lowbies or users I do not recognize from site resources I frequent by Search New Posts. Both old and new join dates, no rhyme or reason there. I'm pushed to renegotiate my terms and break up the lot (specifically for the Pretty Years) before an offer is even made, and then I get lowballed.

This has not been a unique experience. My new policy, upon recognizing this pattern, is to ghost'm until I like what I see, and if I don't, I'll take my goods elsewhere and look local. I'm trying to stay on some if you cant say something nice... shit wherever hanlon's razor (probably) applies.

I really feel bad for the guys coming with new projects/ideas asking for feedback and/or promotion and leaving simply because ILF didn't approve. Some were unnecessarily rude IMO, like that MIDI guy thread.

I am pretty new. Please don't ban me, I like it here.
Come for the fuzz, stay for the crazy.
Mostly I like what is talked about - sometimes I post weird sounds and experiments but always everyone is nice.
I think I mostly keep coming back because of the interesting perspectives on gear in general. Someday it does feel like a silly boys club but I am pretty used to that since pretty much all of the music world is a boys club. I think the talent and perspectives of people on this board really make things nice to read and interact with. I am not a big poster but indeed a big reader. Lots of smarts here, yeah. that.

I have mixed feelings about BST - I have gotten some nice things here, even traded a bit.
All in all every deal went smoothly, I do think that it's really not a big deal if someone makes money off something I sold/was to sell etc. Usually I just want to move something out of my life that I have not really used or found to be not my style so once it's gone, well thanks.

No matter what the post count is sometimes it may seem like someone is taking advantage or whatever, but is that really true? When I try to sell something I mostly am thinking about something else I would rather have and so my attention is on that.
I think most people here make sure to send something that is exactly what they said it was, and hope to get what they were promised back in a trade. I am sure things happen and stuff doesn't go exactly right but I guess I have been lucky and as long as I can I will keep trying to believe most of the people on this board are good. I don't expect super service or something like that... ship tomorrow or I will cry is not my motto. I tend to think about the people here as standard musicians and a lot of musicians have issues that effect how punctual they are. Comes with the territory.

About things like someone making money off a deal they did - great doesn't happen much to me as I tend to lose about 10-15% or more every time so if once in a while someone gets lucky great.
It's really not my thing to follow people around and see what they do with something I obviously had decided to let go of. When I ship something, it's gone and I don't attach. Personally, I have bought things I thought I wanted and then when I got them - yech not my thing. So who knows how the inner details went and there is no reason to trash talk people for being human.

In the end, I love this board and think about it as a sort of touchstone with experimental sound things, there lots of clear minded explorers and mushroom brained shamen here and I am happy to know them. (well at least read what they think)
