Just read the manual for Tides v2. And...ordered Tides v2. I didn't realise that it was able to do AD/AR envelopes as well. I thought it was only LFO/VCO. That and the multiple outputs and modes made it irresistible.

Anyone interested in a Batumi and/or Samara?

I'm probably interested in Batumi, but let me read the Tides manual first...

Rene ships next week. Debating whether or not I wanna dive into that whole dealio or not. Gotta re-watch the tutorial again to make sure I fully grasp it.

Also gonna swap in a Tides and some 2hp modules to fill the empty spaces. I really like MI ish and I've always been intrigued by Tides as an oscillator. Now that it has multiple outs and a fairly robust chord mode, I'm really excited to pair it with Jove and send it through some effects. I think it can be a great sound source.

I'd love to get a Planar2 in there but I don't have the HP to give up. Ultimately, it's going to be an expensive week - but since I returned the Medusa :( I'm at ease.

As a side note, what effect modules does everyone like the most these days? What are you running in your rack? I'm a little sick of Magneto (sometimes the repeat volume seems too low for me for some reason) and I miss my DLD but I doubt it'll leave the rack at this point. Besides that I have a Lofi Junky, and a Pico DSP. I don't like using guitar pedals with modular either, so I need to step up my modular effects for sure.

Let me know! The Batumi is actually amazing, but I don't really use the Batumi/Samara combo enough in my small system to really make it worth the 20hp commitment. Tides seems to have a lot more to offer my specific setup

I'm currently running a DLD and the Field Kit FX. I haven't had the DLD too long and haven't really scratched the surface yet, but I love it so far.

Random modular fx thoughts

Trshmstr is the quintessential tubescreamer & wah package, and boosts up guitar, mic, phone or whatever
DPLR is a great analog delay that takes CV for all the right stuff
2nd gen/6HP Audio Damage is the shit, regardless of whatever happened after
Everybody sucks because there's still no such thing as a simple whammy/pitchfork type module
Roland FX have high end digital sound and multi-fx power, direct digital recordable, etc
Still want the Fuzz Factory for CV controlled FF noising, and a dedicated wavefolder
I might want more than one bitcrusher; Bitrazer is my primary, Pico DSP would problably be #2, but I'd also do the Doepfer if it comes out in black
I'm sure the Z-DSP is great fun, but the cards are more irritating than interesting to me, and it's big and old and needs to be reinvented
Waiting on new Clouds before anything else granular
Polaris seems very underrated, especially since it has phasers
If I was doing Intellijel 1U, I would definitely take two of the reverbs
That Dreadbox/CrazyTube reverb is supposed to be pretty tasty too, might try
Eventide delay seems like a no brainer, why the fuck would anyone not buy that

Tides doesn't look like it's what I want/need. I'm actually going to someones house today who has a Zadar, so I think I'm between a Batumi and a Zadar. If you can wait for a final decision tomorrow, that would be awesome hahaha.

And I have to second the DLD. I love that thing. my only complaint is that mine seems to introduce some distortion at what feels like reletively low levels and I still haven't worked out if that's user error, the nature of the beast, or the nature of my specific beast. Still, highly recommended. I need to use it for more interesting stuff than just delay though.

I can definitely wait. I haven't officially posted it anywhere and can hold off for now.

Also, to expand a bit on my last post, I honestly would love to keep Batumi if I had a bigger system since it's such an incredibly dense and useful LFO; I just need something that can do a little more than LFOs. With that in mind, the AD/AR modes in Tides are something my system sorely lacks and having another voice is always a bonus. I've always wanted a Tides and this update was just what I needed to push me over the edge to order one. Also, got a notice that it's "ready to ship"; should hopefully have it sometime this week! This is what my system will look like:

Not totally sold on having the Veils in there since it takes up a lot of space. Might put Tallins back in and get something like Shades, although I'm not sure that combo is really adding much more than Veils alone :idk:

jia. AR envelopes are SUPER useful. i'm butts excited to have 4 of the Syinsi 1u buggeriboos on their way out here. pretty sure i'm going to grab another couple at least at some point.

i just wish all AR/ASDR envelopes had at least the release stage CV addressable.

I like AR envelopes, but with the ER-101 I can control gate lengths per step, so having something like the WMD MME is perfect. The immediate control over each aspect is perfect. And it has all the other shapes. It's totally overkill for all the control, but I like that over menu diving. With the expander I can control that release or whatever else, too. I want another but probably won't get the expander.

The Zadar looks cool, but after looking into it, it's a completely different beast from a traditional envelope. From what I've seen it looks like an awesome way to make some really complex modulations.

Also, that's a nice looking system. I need to update my modular grid. But also, I've completely given up on having a true plan. I kind of just buy the things I've been thinking about as they come available.

My plans are pretty much complete. People need to stop releasing new modules that pique my interest

Edit: grammar, thanks Dark Barn

the 2hp Vowel was a nice surprise though. i loooove the SynthTech vocal glitch circuit bent module, but never have room for her. this should be a nice little compromise.

Well, if you ever have a spare 40 hp for a sequencer, it's totally worth it.
