Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
also, BLEGH. i sold a module to a guy (Future Retro Transient upgraded to Plus) 5 weeks ago. he said he's from Brazil, asked that i mail it to his friend in Miama. he did ask for a bunch of photos of front and back, was a little annoying to deal with, but whatever. transaction was decently smooth.
got a message from him yesterday that he's in Miami at his friends and JUST tried to power it up, but it won't. asking to send it to me so i can send it to Future Retro for repairs. no mention of who's paying for what. i was mulling over the politest way to say i don't think it's my problem at this point, then he sent me a message this morning -
"Hi,
i'm sorry to say this, but I'll dispute the paypal transaction and make a public post about your reliability if you don't at least answer my messages. I want to believe that something happened in the shipping process but if you don't answer, well... I'll start to think differently."
fuck off guy. i'm on VACATION. it has been less than 24 bours since the last message. and i don't appreciate the attitude.
sent back that i'm very sorry you're having a problem with the module, i want to believe that something happened in the shipping process (ooo BURN!), but since it has been out of my control for so long, i just don't know what has happened to it.
then suggested he contact Future Retro. and told him if you feel like you need to open a PP dispute, do it. if you feel like you need to start a post, do it. i've sold tons here and on other sites, i take care of all reasonable issues promptly and thoroughly.
am i in the wrong here? i never want to sell on a problem piece of gear, and i usually err on the side of taking care of someone even if it's questionable who's fault it is. but i do feel like if it worked fine when i shipped it, then it's been out of my hands for more than a month, how do i know him or his friend or his cat or a small barely mobile human didn't do something horrible to it?

I don’t know how I’d go about it but I do think that it would be silly for him to send it to you so that you can send it to Future Retro, if he wants to RMA it he should handle it directly with Future Retro shouldn’t he?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Yeah he should definitely be sending it to Future Retro himself. Definitely don't think you're in the wrong behndy, but not quite sure the right way to handle it either. Did he explain the issues in detail or any troubleshooting he did or did he just say it won't power up? Could be something stupid like he plugged in the cable wrong or he hasn't read the manual

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
I don't think you did anything wrong here. Expecting instant responses is fucking rude. Perfect time to send back a guilt inducing message about how you have a life. Anyways, if he posts shitty things on a forum I'd probably take the story to a mod and see what they're willing to do? And respond defending yourself obviously. You have all the proof... also did this guy do F&F?

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Damn, that's a shitty position to be put in, Behndy. The guy definitely isn't being reasonable.
I got my Keystep in the other day and.... it isn't sending 1v/oct accurately. If I tune a C and then go up an octave, it's out of tune by a quartertone. Tried updating the firmware, factory reset, adjusted parameters in Arturia's control center and still nothing helped. Trying to get in touch with Arturia's support team to figure something out so hopefully I don't have to exchange it.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
yah. he just got back to me, way less attitude. going to give it a day, think of anything i'm willing to do to help, but i kinda have my hands tied here. i KNOW it worked when it left mines. took it out of a rack to ship it. and he's saying he just tried it because it just got to him in Brazil, but that means his friend waited at least 3 weeks to ship it and.... i don't know if his friend fucked with it, i don't know if his friend pulled it out and packed it poorly and shipped it, i don't know if this guy did the power backwards when it got to him.
i feel bad, it SUCKS waiting on something then it's shitty. but. don't know what i can do to help without fucking myself.
lol. he DID all passive aggressively end it with,
"But if you don't feel like helping, what can i say?
have a nice vacation and don't worry, I will not spend my time trying to solve it in a negative way. I'm just really disappointed."

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
re Keystep - huh. yeah. that IS odd. mines has always been fine. just had to adjust where it's middle octave was.
Arturia can take a hinute to answer, but they've given me decent support.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Same thing happened to me on ebay, selling a uzeus of all things. I had to do a refund, but I was able to report it from my side as sent out working/reported DOA, so I did that.
I pretty much already knew it was stupid to sell a uzeus, but it kind of put me off of selling, haven't really done any since.
Ordered the X1L3 Persuadatron fm radio module, hope the shipping is quick. It will be going in the Trogotronic rack.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Finally started my new jobby job which is why I haven’t been around too much but also means new gear incoming! Got a rene V2 and Tides (2018) on the way. Also just received the Antumbra Atom 18hp Elements and an Isla Instruments KORDBOT which I’m going to see if I can integrate it with my eurorack for chord sequencing.
Oh and I put an album out

Contemplating putting my Mutable stuff into one row of my 4 row setup. I think it'll be so aesthetically pleasing to my eyes that it'll entice me to use my eurorack more lmao. Rene should be here tomorrow, along with Tides and that 2hp ish. Think I'm gonna bring Clouds back for some s t e r e o r e v e r b and remove nearly all my Mannequins stuff from my main racks. Also thinking about taking the two racks and splitting them up instead of using them in the connected configuration. I think I have enough modules to get away with having 2 distinct racks for different purposes, but are close enough in proximity that they can still be used together - but I need a lot more planning to see that plan come to fruition.
WILD stuff. I really dig the variation in drums throughout. The whole thing makes me think of a fucked up video game cartridge that caused the tv to explode.

Re: Can we talk about modular synths?
Everyone is dropping tracks! Will try to listen when i get off work. I don’t think I’ve promoted it here other than the link in my sig, but it’s always free to listen to the Poetic_stere0 musings of The Weak in Review, it’s mostly modular but also some stuff done in Logic or on my old Gotharman’s Fuzion. It’s at all the podcast places but also on Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5Ic55XqpS ... xyj6Sdd9kw
