Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
If you go a pa-less laptop (or synth for that matter) might want to get some kind of signal splitter based on frequency so you can send some stuff to the bass amp and some to the pa. But a synth, unless you buy a full amp, ain't really going to fix the pa problem (we never had PA's at venues so our bass amp setup had to do double duty).
They also make DI's for laptops.
Post metal. I know I just talked about it, but the Kawai k1 it k5000 would be cool (especially with effects). You can do lots of evolving of harmonics over time. And really, they can do a ton of different quality sounds if you get with the program...they are kind of limitless.
That sequential pro 2 with the new FM modes would probably be cool. Poly-chained dsi evolvers (if you want to invest) because they've got to analog and two digital osc per voise and dsi/sequential always has good mod routing. Even if I don't absolutely love their synths, they are quality designs.
Ensoniq stuff like esq-1 and the samplers would work well too.
Digitakt would actually probably be enough though. Learn that thing and I think it will lessen some synth gas. With the right samples and smart programming, an awesome sampler can do most anything. A the synths in the phantom limbs we're samplers (old ensoniq and kurzweil).

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I’ve got two 800rb’s and enough cabs to bi-amp highs and lows with a crossover, so hopefully that’ll do it. If not I’ll bite the bullet and just get a 15” main with a tweeter, a sub, and a power amp and drag it around. I’m not super worried about things being heavy if it does what I want.
The Digitakt really seems like it can do everything with enough programming/pre thought out stuff. Since we don’t have a dedicated synth guy I love the idea of sequencing to keep it hands free.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
I'd just stick with and learn digitakt first then supplement later if needed. Most likey you probably won't outside of maybe a pedal here or there.
Just use some soft synths and sample them at home. Should cover a lot. A good field recorder would probably be a better investment than a synth (like sample the bass, found sounds, borrow synths from friends, etc). You work at a music store, right? Demo some stuff and sample!
Your setup will probably be fine (and sound good). There used to be rules in the venues out here that the PA was only for vocals because noise people and punk bands would break 'em with stuff so we kinda had to learn how to make a reliable pa/bass amp combo.
Autocorrect is dumb.
For Furtkamp: you're mom.

Is there a stereo pedal or rack unit that can 'spatialize' frequencies, the way that some mastering software can? Panning specific frequencies like a 'spectral expander' (I hope that made sense).
It would be awesome to be able to manipulate that live.

There's a Mid-Fi Random Number Generator in B/S/T but I already have a Mid-Fi Glitch Computer, which I've enjoyed using. Do they cover similar territory?

Sparks were pretty interesting, but the Hitler moustache is never, EVER a good idea. i wouldn't doubt that at least 1/3 of their potential audience was turned off by that.

Green Ringer or Octavia maybe...could probably nail that sound with a You're Doom (though that's not based on either of the previously mentioned effects as far as I know)friendship wrote:Any guesses for the fuzz pedal used in this song?

Yeah it sounds octave-fuzzy to me too! With maybe some weird biasing? The fuzz sounds on this record are so explosive, I love it.
