MPX-500/550 is a reverb box with some delay stuff.

It's not a multi-fx. Nor is it preset only.

I have one, and it's a grand monster if you want Lexicon verb stuff in hardware on the cheap.

The PCM 60 patches (which you can tweak out all you want) are worth the price of admission alone.

[edit: should add that it's also very tweakable on the fly - four knobs for adjustments from baseline. Should you know the basic of what you want, from factory or your own patches, adjust as needed including while playing with ease for a rackmount of that age]

an MPX-500 just popped up on my local CL for $75. I didn't see any info in the manual on what types of parameters you get control over, but that's pretty tempting.

I am... but I'm not. If I was in Mid-Town this week... I would get it... but if I have no reason to go there... it's just not going to happen. I'm with you on the price. But again... Mid-Town. It's not going to happen unless I'm already there.

We should meet up when it gets nice out. If you wind up getting this AND not liking it... I'll probably take it. Don't use me to make your decision though.
I won't be in Mid-Town until the 18th. If it's still there I might get it... and vice versa... if I don't like it... I'll hit you up.

I bet it sells quick though... :p

You can edit a metric ton of parameters, there's 3-4 pages of stuff per individual preset, and you have 30 user presets and god knows how many algos to make them off of.

thank u bb. I spent this morning drinking coffee and getting to know its programming workflow. Immediately made a shimmer patch that has +/- 5 cent detuning that drifts up to +/- 50 cents when you hold the momentary switch. So much to explore in this thing! I'll need to pack sandwiches and cider.

Shimmer with minimal pitch shift is a nice sound. I use an eventide crystal preset sometimes that has exp going from slight detune to 4th down

Woah flashback! Yes, the fireworx was part of a quest for all digital signal chains. It's a powerhouse unit capable of just about anything and everything at once, but it requires getting familiar with the menu setup and reading the manual, which I got tired of doing time after time. I did make some pretty deep presets for it, but couldn't keep track of what was going on in all of them after a while. I would try other TC rack units in the future, but probably just the simpler ones for me.
