an observation: guitar center's used section and covid-19

Post by RubenTheDev »

so pre-corona there was a bunch of used stuff that I'd been eyeing for a bit waiting for a price drop.
once isolation started all the cool stuff started disappearing quick.

example: there was a TVL JM for like 799 I think. Solid price but it'd been sitting there for a while so I was waiting for a price drop to jump on it.
It disappeared almost immediately after the quarantine started.
As did just about every other used JM.
As did just about every used pedal I was looking at.
There was a LP St for 1299 w/ a bunch of finish issues, like this thing had been gigged to hell and back. Also gone, less than a week into quarantine.

I find it pretty cool, if a little annoying, that people are gobbling up the cool stuff because they now have the time at home to enjoy it.

....I really should've jumped on that TVL...

My understanding is that stores that are closed under local orders take their inventory offline since there is no one to fill the orders.
