Been some promising updates for release and added features for the Space Case TE-2.... anyone else on the list to get one?

I've never used the Morphagene, but I really enjoy the QuBit Nebulae. I don't use it for live sampling all that much though, mostly just playing sounds back from the USB. I'm pretty sure the Nebulae can save to USB too.

I wish. I'd love any of their products, but they are all way too expensive for me.

Y’all crazy as fuck, Morphagene rules.

It’s like the “instant glitch current hype pedal” of eurorack. I haven’t ever used an SD card w it, just use it for loop mangling and tape loop sounding delay shit. It’s really fucking rad.

Been working on getting to know the er-301 better, would love to be able to use it in the same capacity that I use Morphagene (and then some). I ordered a Palette today to stick the 301/Cara/some 2hp goods, and some utilities in to REALLY fuckin give the 301 a go as the main piece of a focused system.

I’d love to be able to downsize to an IJ 7U 84hp e370 quad voice setup and the 301 Palette for drums and processing. Oh and the Black and Gold system for zen when I don’t want to spend time programming, just want to jam.

I absolutely love it. I use it for a mix of live sampling and "prepared samples". It's good for both. It can make some really out there sounds and mangle whatever you feed it. I've never used the card to import or export audio files but it's nice in theory.

Well, I must take issue here in part. I do own and use three Make Noise modules: Wogglebug, Erbe-Verb, Echophon. I do not believe these modules require the knowledge of button presses to function - they appear hands-on and can produce effects without needing knowledge. In this way, some Make Noise modules are not as esoteric to interface with...

That said, I do not have the Mentality nor the Mental Ability to memorize the button press combos, especially when I am jamming very hard on a groove. When I am jamming very hard on a groove, the last thing I want to do is hold down one thing for 2 seconds and then another thing as well! Please NOTE: I do NOT make AMBIENT MUSIC...

murrrrr. i mean. as always, i assume if i don't click with an interface it's more me than them. but what i remember about the Rene 2, Tempi and Morphagene was the esoteric ass labelong compounded with holes and buttom combos to do THINGS didna do for me.

lol. ones i liked and understood well like the Qpas were just... so biiiiig.

You're both listing very different Make Noise stuff and I agree with both of you.

Wogglebug, Erbe-Verb, and Echophon are definitely pretty straight-forward, knob-per-function type modules. I've only owned the Wogglebug, but I don't think I'd have any issues understanding the Erbe-Verb or Echophon.

Rene and Tempi on the other hand are definitely not immediate or hands-on. They may have some immediate controls that you can easily wrap your head around, but as soon as you want to dig a little deeper, you have to memorize a ton of button presses. This I know from experience. Not to say these are bad modules, though; they're just not for me.

Morphagene I can't really comment on. It seems straight forward to me, but I can't wrap my head around the splicing functions while watching demos. However, that might be easy if I had my hands on one. Mimeophon also seems fairly straight forward, but I really don't like some of the naming conventions on it. Specifically, "Halo"; why can't you just call it reverb or smear?

In other news, I'm starting to plan a mini rack for ambient sample mangling/external sound processing. Planning on an Intellijel Pallette case and likely going to include a Quadrax, Nebulae, Prism, and Mimeophon with a couple of the new Intellijel FSR 1U modules. This will open up some room in my main case that I am using mainly to augment the Matriarch. Not sure what I will add there, but kind of gassing for the EQD Afterneath and the QuBit Bloom (Bloom might be a little redundant with my Marbles though?).

That sounds pretty dope there. I did not know of the Quadrax; that looks like a very powerful module indeed.

I have a love jones for the QuBit Bloom; it looks so fly to me. I feel like it would be fun to use and achieve immediate results of happiness. However, I ain't have nowheres to put one or a reason to buy one. This is a great sadness. Will I actually buy yet another case?

What I ought to do is bite my bullet and purchase a 2nd Mantis case... did I dream this or did someone release a product which allows you to connect two Mantis cases together vertically??? If this is real and not my dream, I'm probably definitely going to nab the other Mantis and continue to purchase / explore more modules.

I definitely get your issue with their UI. Looks like a really pretty nightmare. In the videos I’ve watched of the Morphagene the button combos seem to make sense though. I just about fainted though when watching the secret button combos for the 4MS stereo sampler.

jia. all of their loot i've owned that i liked was too big, or too confusing to use.

but.

BUT.

i still always WANT their stuff. i've been super tempted to grab another No Coast and rack it with some things. i always want to order their 7u case with the sexy routing middle. and i have almost ordered a Black And Gold like 70 times.

dunno. they speak to me? in a hypothetical context?

This looks like a fun replacement for my SQ-1:

Image

DOT

3 channels pattern generator

Dot is handy feature-packed tool for generating and managing rhythmic triggers in your system. It can fire drums, generate variable pulses, divide clocks, create polyrhythms on a fly with several twist of a knob or with deep, careful pattern programming. Both generative and manual program techniques can be combined, f.e. you can create pattern with euclidian algorithm and then edit it in xox style or shift it with cv inputs to a new levels of variety.

Despite of its slim form factor, DOT has 3 channels of patterns on a board and can be extended with additional DOTs, that can be chained together.

General features:

3 channels trigger sequencer in 6 hp

euclidian pattern generators and XOX step programing

real time manual recording

3 routable bi-polar cv inputs

ability to save and load patterns

programmable ratchets

swing

flip-able interface

stable clocking with ultra low latency

several modules can be chained to share clock and reset
