Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Thank god someone else recommended musket/blunderbuss so I didn’t have to be a broken clock.
Blends on muffs are fine but obviously only if you are pushing it with something that makes sense. Like something midrange-y

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
definitely, i never use the blended muff without having some overdrive-ish thing before it, it just sounds weak.fcknoise wrote: Blends on muffs are fine but obviously only if you are pushing it with something that makes sense. Like something midrange-y
i guess it comes to taste, i loved the twosome, and the musket in it was really good for distortion sounds, but never got that tipycal muff huummmmmph i love so much.starmansam wrote:I also don't love blends on muffs, but pregain boosts and mids controls are great. Blunderbuss / musket is a great example. You can get traditional scooped wooly muff sounds or a tight focused crushing tone.

yeah that's fair. it doesn't really do that "oh the air pressure in the room changed" thing when you click it on compared to a more traditional muff

I got a fuzz war recently and yes it has mostly killed the muff thing. But definitely boosted muffs can be

Fuzz War is the best muff-style pedal I’ve used.

After having installed on my semi hollow tele I can say that it's holding its tone well enough to get through a good couple of songs worth of abuse. Ended up heeding your warning though and bought a roller bridge and new string trees that are on their way to make it as stable as possible, still debating on locking tuners.Inconuucl wrote:I was just going to go with lube, shame. I'll see if I can get it stable on my end but thanks for the heads up!harpies wrote:It’s a dusenberg trem. I had trouble finding a roller bridge that was the right height to pair with it and had tuning stability problems. Ultimately sent it back, but the design is cool for a non-modding option.

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Anyone here have any experience with the Fishman TriplePlay MIDI pickup?
Wondering whether it'd be worthwhile setting one up with a desktop synth module like the Minilogue XD or a Blofeld.
(as opposed to a Roland GR unit or a pedal like the Meris Enzo etc for 'guitar synth')
It seems to track really nicely but I never see anyone using them
~5:50 mark for the fishman controlling a Prophet

Re: The Whatever Thread .. For Gear!!
Welp, the noise floor of my original POG has crept up to troublesome levels recently. I guess it's time to investigate if anything is doing what it does better. Never felt the POG2 sounded quite as good, plus don't like the combined detune slider, and *hated* the Organizers I've played, dunno what else is out there now. Whammy 5? Pitch Factor? Seems like there should've been more ...pogress... by now.

don't think so, though. Agree that EHX left some things on the table in the move to POG2. Pitchfork is not really a substitute. I don't hear any noticeable improvements in recent years in the polyphonic pitch shifting world. The old Digitech Harmonizer is still the best for that job; POG for its. Whammy 5 - I pass, but I didn't hear anything that made me want to jump on it.
Here's my thing. Recently had an interestingly psychedelic experience noodling away on a metal-flake finished guitar (I know, I'm sheltered).
Wondering if with the right finish (probs not metal flake, lol) this thing could also be self-pyschedlia friendly:

Or would I just look like a tool. (well, moreso than I usually do)
Also, if a self-psychedelicizing noodler looks like a tool during a self-isolationizing pandemic, does he even exist?

I want to try splatter over dye like OD has done on some of their guitars.

I imagine I'd =miss the input gain control on the POG terribly, which none of the other options I can find appear to have, just wish I could bring the noise back down to where it used to be somehow.Dandolin wrote:

NOT metal flake? Literally begging for cosmic rainbow metal flake. Just find a *really* good finish person.Wondering if with the right finish (probs not metal flake, lol) this thing could also be self-pyschedlia friendly:
