Nothing looks tougher than a big box EHX pedal.

Re: Irrational EHX Lust Thread
I briefly had an Oceans 11 and kind of liked the weird shimmer thing so I want to try an Oceans 12 to get the extra controls.
I've heard interesting things about the reverse on the Grand Canyon so I want to try that, too.
Superego is my favorite and always in my chain and I was so excited about the + but the effect volume wasn't loud enough on the one I had. I've heard from others that it's not a problem with their units, though, so maybe there was something wrong with mine.

Re: Irrational EHX Lust Thread
Whenever I remember they exist:
Canyon - I like the graphics and it seems like a handy delay
OP amp big muff - i like the orange and black and it sounds rad
1440 looper - this might he the looper of my dreams, a simple midi-syncable looper with straightforward controls
Platform - sometimes I need something to help keep my synth volumes level, and this seems like a good choice?

Good thread idea! I like it.....
Long time old timely EHX wants:
Big Box Bass Microsynth
Big Box DDM (had one, sold it for $700 when I needed to finance some other gear and now I’m priced out of the market)
Russian Green Muff or bubble font black Muff - does this count?
Big Box Electric Mistress - I have ZERO use for this and it would take up way too much space! Still kind of want one.
I want a EHX looper - I may actually buy one of those, the 1440 or whatever it is looks very cool.

I only remember that I want one of their loopers, mainly the 45000, when I see Reggie Watts use them.
Also, WHEN ARE THEY GONNA FINALLY MAKE ANOTHER 16-SECOND DIGITAL DELAY.

Re: Irrational EHX Lust Thread
Nothing irrational about owning EHX stuff, plenty of decent offerings in their line up. I own an LPB-1 (probably still my favourite dirty boost), Nano POG (formerly Micro), Freeze, Nano Bass Big Muff (formerly Micro), two Pitch Forks (and still lusting after the PF+), Flanger Hoax, 16 Second Digital Delay RI (with external footswitch), Germanium OD and a Random Tone Generator (which is actually a sequence so I might be looking to offload this). The only thing I haven't really connected with for some reason is EHX Delays; I had a Deluxe Memory Boy, but sold it, and currently have a Canyon on the chopping block. To my ear there's just something off about their tap tempo implementation or something, especially on the Canyon.

Also, dude, I totally get this quest, but unless you're after the specific mojo vibes of the time stretching and modulation like in that Nels Cline demo vid (which allegedly even the initial reissue did not nail, but I have no way to compare them), there's several other pedals these days that can do the always listening thing. Hit me up if you need at least 3 solid suggestions.jrfox92 wrote:WHEN ARE THEY GONNA FINALLY MAKE ANOTHER 16-SECOND DIGITAL DELAY.

Oh, the reminds me, where on God's green earth can I find an LPB-2ube?
I've been curious about that thing for so long and never saw one up for sale for under, like, $300.

Re: Irrational EHX Lust Thread
Expedition Electronics 60 Second Delay would have my vote, though personally, I tend to play very rhythmically, so the lack of tap tempo switch is a real limitation sometimes (not that either of the EHX 16S DD's had tap tempo, I just generally favour it). I still wonder if I can't get its delay time CV/expression input to function like a tap tempo input somehow...

Re: Irrational EHX Lust Thread
Beside having a big-Big Muff and an old POG (fav pedal ever) on board since forever, lately I have seen a lot of EHX pedals of my interest: Oceans 12, Pitchfork2, 1440.
I don't need any of those because I m set up with loopers, Pitch and reverbs, but if I was planning to make a new board I would start with these ones.
The new Mainframe seems cool too.

Re: Irrational EHX Lust Thread
I have a bunch. Looking for a few more but mostly out of production rarities/weirdos (Holiest Grail in particular). Definitely want to snag that new Mainframe.
Big Muff Germanium IV - Not a Big Muff in any way but has some killer sounds in it with the right tweaking, but very unrefined feeling if that makes sense, like they could've spent a little more time dialing in control ranges, noise floor, etc. Can't really complain for how cheap it is, I guess.
Superego - Does what it does, one of my favorites.
Superego+ - The ADSR is a great addition, the built-in FX are meh, would rather have gain or filtering or something that brings out the synthiness more, not as thicc sounding as the original for better or worse.
POG v1 - One of my most used pedals over the last 10 years, but getting noisy as hell to the point of unplayability, sadly. Dunno if I should buy a POG2 or just stock up on old ones or what.
Flanger Hoax - Also had this for like 10 years, still confusing as hell, mostly.
Tube Zipper - Budget Filterbank, gets nice and gross.
TubeEQ - Usually just use if to warm something up, but can get some pretty weird tones plus resonant filter/oscillations/wah with expression.
Black Finger (Tube) - I've played a few and some can be noisy, mine is pretty quiet and is a really great "color" compressor.
Hot Tubes (Tube) - Basically all the gain, super rough and raunchy EQ.
Wiggler - I think the trem is my favorite part, but the vibe variations are all interesting in their own way if not particularly accurate to what they're supposed to be imitating.
Super Pulsar - Bought it to replace my v1 Tap-a-Whirl, certainly does more but I think the Cusack sounded better and I actually bought this for all the blinky lights tbqh.
Attack Decay (new version) - It's fun, another one that isn't really polished enough, though. Poly mode sucks imo AND I played a few side by side before taking this one home, some of them straight up sounded much worse with a lot more weird background noises/glitchiness and/or didn't behave as well at the same settings. First shipment, though, so there could've been QC stuff still to iron out or could just have been EHX straight EHXin'.

EHX big box stuff and old muffs are the most rational GAS that exist. These have been gassed for since long before the term even existedretinal orbita wrote:Good thread idea! I like it.....

Which is not to say I disagree, those things are awesome. I had a big box Graphic Fuzz and it totally owned. Why did I sell it

Yeah, their old big box stuff seems neat. Never got along with their newer stuff with the buttons and all, feels way to finnicky for my caveman brain.
Those older Holy Grails in the bigger boxes look sweet.
Oh, and the Space Drum is cool, though it's probably a very limited instrument.

Yeah I mean my second pedal ever was a Black Russian, and big muffs are my absolute favourite fuzzes. Cool company across the board for me (I also had a Bassballs for a while which was fun).oscillofuzz wrote:Nothing irrational about owning EHX stuff, plenty of decent offerings in their line up. But, like, do I need a 4500 or a Ravish? No. But also yes. but also _insert photo of computer and modular drone box_, so no. That's what I mean by irrational lust.
