Yes, it does. It not only launches the zinc bolts/nuts/washers like bullets directly out of the discharge nozzle, but also large (around 5" square) sheets of 1/8" thick aluminum or steel that comprise the "blades" of the fan. The original design for this fan was shamelessly stolen from GE (they designed it probably 50-ish years ago) and has remained essentially unchanged.

The older the dryer, the more damage it causes.

The original version of the same company I have referred to (Superior turned into The Dryer Pros) used to make everything out of minimally welded aluminum and now the "fans" inside are made of steel.

TL;DR Yes, the blowers basically explode/rip apart and expell large pieces of metal.

how many people have been killed or injured in these car washes? authorities won't do anything unless someone is actually injured? Seems like auto makers need to fix stuff all the time because of the potential to cause injury...

Every few years, during a torrential downpour, I'll run outside with a scrap towel and knock off all the big chunks and caked road grime. That's the extent of "washing" my car sees.

I hope your vehicle isn't parked in the fall zone for any big trees or limbs
