Nice. Integral power chord? This is the version I used to have, great unit. :thumb:

I'm bumping this thread because I can't hold it in anymore, and it's said that confession is good for the soul.

I have irrational EHX lust for a standard NYC BMP. That big, ugly black and silver box was my very first fuzz pedal. I kept it for a couple of years after I bought my FF, but eventually I decided it wasn't working well with my Marshall so I sold it. But then I started feeling naked without that big, ugly black and silver box, so about a year later I bought another one. I kept it for a few years, but then I decided it didn't work well with my Fender, so I sold it. Now I'm back to feeling naked without that big, ugly black and silver box just waiting for me to step on it so it can spite me yet again.

I own a bunch of Muff type fuzzes, including a BMP TW, which can get the exact same sound. But they just aren't the same as that big, ugly black and silver box.

I got one last year from a friend who gave it to me to repair and said I could keep it. And while I'm definitely gonna mod it for fun I love it stock much more than I ever remembered.

Why am I into boutique pedals again???

Poly mode sucks imo AND I played a few side by side before taking this one home, some of them straight up sounded much worse with a lot more weird background noises/glitchiness and/or didn't behave as well at the same settings. First shipment, though, so there could've been QC stuff still to iron out or could just have been EHX straight EHXin'.
Well I've ordered an Attack Decay. Can't test 'em out. It will arrive from a warehouse
and likely skirt QC (and avoid quarantine confinement too?), so hopefully it "works"
at least mostly as it's supposed to.

My real irrational EHX want is a green sovtek BMP - saw a bubble font pop up on reverb for $400 with AC upgrade, MINT condition and ships from Canada - I didn’t pull the plug and it went in a heartbeat. I really regret it. Even though I can’t afford it ATM, just refinanced our mortgage to that accelerated biweekly plan but still.... I coulda flipped a few pedals no problem.....

i got an AD for Christmas that i've been getting to know. i also don't love Poly mode...i guess i'm naturally monogamous. there's a weird modulation in Poly that i don't like. i just got a Moog expression pedal in the mail today which i'm going to use with the backwards settings. i thought about it, and the reason the backwards function isn't totally convincing is that different notes in a phrase have different envelopes, and in Mono mode the AD can't be set so shorter notes have their own envelopes. the logical answer to this is to use the expression pedal to vary the envelope so shorter note values don't expire before the attack setting is fully engaged. i wish i'd realized how huge the Moog pedal is, though...fitting it on the front-end board will be like trying to dock in Hong Kong. and i already have to fit the ROYGBIV, which takes up approximately the footprint of a Honda Element.

the Slow Gear-style settings work very well. of course, one always wishes for more granular settings, but it's a nice alternative to volume pedal swells. i haven't tried the continuous-trigger tremolo yet; i've got a feeling that the intro to "New You" is in there somewhere. and the built-in fuzz is NAS-TAY. i can't say it's great, but i'm enjoying it so far. on the surface it appears quite simple, but there's a bunch of variables available that can help tailor it to your needs. particularly, you can assign all kinds of functions to the footswitches and/or expression pedal.

Wasn't that one designed by Frantone, or am I making that up?

I think some of them were. I think there are like 4 different NYC muffs and that the circuit it is based on is designed by Fran but modifications had been done over the years in typical big muff fashion

In yet another attempt to find a use for my 8 Step Program that I really like, I've taken the Hedra out of the Rubberneck loop and replaced it with a Pitch Fork/8 Step combo to mess around with the pitch of the repeats.

That means I've got three EHX pedals on the board now, only my long retired Pocket Metal Muff remains on the sidelines, though I do plan to use it at least once this year.

I've used the Pitch Fork / 8 Step combination before and it works well, but what I've discovered so far is that I need to get the timing of the steps to match the repeats or you don't hear half the changes :)
