I had no goals at the beginning of the year. Somehow before January was over I had already acquired 2 guitars! Now I need a hardshell case for the new SG, and I'm talking to a pedal builder about commissioning my first custom built pedal. I'm really not sure how the hell all this happened.
I think that should do it for the year, but who knows.

i can relate. last year i had no intentions of going all Georgie-on-a-spree buying effects devices, but when i realized it was gonna be another year in lockdown i decided to entertain myself. and since looping is the only thing i've done with relative consistency in the last decade it seemed like a good time to go balls-to-the-wall.

Sweetwater has TC Electronic Pipeline tremolos on sale for $99. That's the last modulation effect I need, and the Pipeline gets good reviews, so I pulled the trigger. The only hitch is they're out of stock, so I won't be able to get my infantile need for instant gratification fulfilled.

Pretty sure you are going to need a few more, they are really a needed effect
Well, I already have a vibe, a chorus, and a flanger. What else would I need? And in the interest of full disclosure, I barely even know what to do with them.

Well you need a phaser... what to do? Turn them all on a start messing with speeds until you get the sound to get sort of a all encompassing type of world of swirl
i lived happily without a wah for fifty years. when i finally got one this year, it wasn't a Hendrix thing--i've said before that copying Jimi would be sacrilegious to me--or even John Cipollina who i adore; it was from James out of Manic Street Preachers.. in a pinch i could get by with fuzz + a Fender amp with reverb and tremolo. my entire rig for 15 years was the Distortion+ and a Princeton Reverb into a 2x12 cab with alnico Jensens. but if you're going to be strict i think it's fuzz, some sort of modulation, delay, reverb.

i can't live without reverb. everything sounds so flat without it. in fact, if you told me i could only have one effect forever i'd probably choose reverb. with a small enough amp fuzz becomes somewhat less than relevant.

unfortunately, big amps are better suited for people who 1.) aren't in their 60s 2.) can actually move a loaded 4×12 3.) don't have people in neighboring apartments that bitch if i turn the AC15 over 5. in an ideal world i'd have a Hiwatt stack *and* a Marshall stack like Kevin Shields. but i'd need a rehearsal space the size of a rural airport. i compensate for smaller amps by adding additional 12' speakers. you'd be amazed how loud a Princeton Reverb with a 2×12 can be.
