Frances The Mute
I've got Frances The Mute blasting and I'm excited to talk about it!
It sounds great! I bought a nice CD player to hook up to my stereo receiver and I haven't listened to this since 2006 maybe? I used to put it on when I came home from a night out and out of my mind.
I didn't know what Juan was all about back then and now I'm realizing how much of this is his bass and probably his influence.
The artwork and design is so well done.
Those phaser or LFO Filter tones or whatever they are - so good! Anyone know what Omar was using for modulation?
I know that guy who wants me to misusse a subforum and I'm sorry to clutter non-genereal gear

Don't listen to Francis The Mute while doing a load of laundry. There are sounds in there that will make you believe your machine is ready to break.

You beautiful bastard. Thank you for this. Never thought Omar would be running the stereo outs on the DL4 for that fucking rig. He was using it to loop right?UglyCasanova wrote:Omar's pedalboard from that time:

Also damn, I remember getting this album from one of my high school teachers. He was wearing a TMV t shirt and I told him it looked sick and asked what he was. He filled me in and let me borrow his copy of Frances.
It was an interesting year.

I love Juan, I can only imagine what it must have been like seeing this tour in a club and Omar and Juan going off with all of that craziness!

I saw them touring this record and it was definitely wild. Wasn't a club though: I think they played whatever the arena in Worcester is called with System of a Down and Bad Acid Trip.brak purp wrote:I love Juan, I can only imagine what it must have been like seeing this tour in a club and Omar and Juan going off with all of that craziness!

Saw them during the Bedlam tour and they played too loud for the venue. All you could hear was just a constant low hum with occasional high bleeps. It lasted for 2,5 hours and for some reason I stayed, but it was terrible.

Nice! Thanks for your memories!
I've somehow never tried any of the Line 6 pedals save for the DL4. I kinda want a Dl4 and the Purple one, but now they all seem intriguing. Mult inputs on that FM4, hmm.
EHX Bass Micro Synthesizer needs to spend more time outside of my closet.

Caught them in Detroit on this tour, too, but Hella opened. Holy shit.D.o.S. wrote:I saw them touring this record and it was definitely wild. The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents.

I also saw them during this tour! It was a bigger venue, not quite a stadium but definitely big. They did a lot of improv and jamming on their songs- which, fine, but the venue just wasn't well designed for that kinda thing. Basically just sounded like 40 minutes of noodling and echos, with some recognizable bits of songs here and there. Was too bad, we were excited, but it wasn't a great show (System sounded great, but their stuff is less dense)D.o.S. wrote:I saw them touring this record and it was definitely wild. Yeah this tracks with my memory as well I think. Lots of low end and echo bouncing around everywhere. Which I really dug but the Santana-isms were definitely buried.fldrvr wrote:I also saw them during this tour! It was a bigger venue, not quite a stadium but definitely big. That would have been sick! I have to say watching a proper powerviolence band on a big stadium stage was definitely a unique experience thoughInvisible Man wrote:Caught them in Detroit on this tour, too, but Hella opened.
